Lyr. Add: Mistletoe and Holly
Frank Sinatra

Oh, by gosh, by golly
It's time for mistletoe and holly
Tasty pheasants, Christmas presents
Countryside covered with snow.

Oh, by gosh, by jingle
It's time for carols and Kris Kringle
Overeating, merry greetings
From relatives you don't know.

Then comes that big night
Giving the tree the trim
You'll hear voices by starlight
Singing a Yuletide hymn.

Oh, by gosh, by golly
It's time for mistletoe and holly
Fancy ties and Grannie's pies
An' folks stealin' a kiss or two.

As they whisper "Merry Christmas" to you.

Then comes that big night
Giving the tree the trim
You'll hear voices by starlight
Singing a Yuletide hymn.

Oh, by gosh, by golly
It's time for mistletoe and holly
Fancy ties and grannie's pies
An' folks stealin' a kiss or two.

Sinatra could sing, but these lyrics give me indigestion.

So, Q, why do you persist in posting lyrics that give you indigestion?

You needn't answer. I think I know the answer. I share the feeling. It's just hard to define, or describe, or admit to.

Our language needs a word something like schadenfreude that means "Malicious enjoyment derived from observing someone else's bad taste."

I find that, no matter how bad a song is, I can usually enjoy hearing it once.

I had posted another holly-mistletoe song (a good one, at least I was thanked for it. The Sinatra song came up also, so I posted it.

Sorry it upset you.

I wasn't upset in the slightest. I was merely attempting to make friendly conversation.

Many's the time I've posted lyrics of songs I liked, or at least thought were interesting, not in response to a request, but just like you did, because I happened to run across them while looking for something else. When I saw you doing the same thing, I thought I recognized a kindred spirit.

I'm the typical old curmudgeon today. Snow blocked the air intake to the furnace twice last night. Furnace cut off. Trying to get a solution today.
