Or, you can read his posting of the lyrics in THIS THREAD There are a bunch of listings on youtube, one of which is ANN MARGARET singing the title song, which is completely different than what Joe posted, so not sure which one you want. Hope that helps.:-) kat |

No more sunshine It's followed you away; I'll cry Birdie, Till you're home to stay. I'll miss the way you smile, As tho' it's just for me; And each and ev'ry night, I'll write you faithfully! Bye bye Birdie, It's awful hard to bear, Bye bye birdie Think I'll always care, Guess I'll always care, Guess I'll always Care! Bye bye Birdie The Army's taken you now I'll try Birdie To forget somehow No more sighing Each time you moved your lips No more crying When you twist those hips You swivel and you sway Your super trooper There's nothing left to say But Conrad you're a jet Bye Bye Birdie. Many songs in the musical, some more singable. From lyricsplayground.com |

26 Nov 10 - 02:47 AM (#3040627) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: looking for lyrics to bye bye birdie From: Joe Offer Hi, Jexie- The theme is repeated several times during the movie, and there are variations. The final "Army" verse isn't on the Ann-Margret single. Her lyrics are just about what's posted above, without that final verse. The Ann-Margret recording is introduced by this verse:
We love you Conrad, and we'll be true. There was a similar verse about the Beatles. Bye Bye Birdie is a 1960 stage musical with a book by Michael Stewart, lyrics by Lee Adams, and music by Charles Strouse. The Beatles were formed in 1960, so I'm guessing the "Conrad" verse came first. -Joe- |
26 Nov 10 - 08:13 AM (#3040773) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: looking for lyrics to bye bye birdie From: GUEST,Tattie Bogle I was in a production of it in 1999. Apart from "Kids", other well-known songs from the show include "Put on a Happy Face", and "Gotta lot of living to do". Lesser known are "Last Kiss" and "Spanish Rose". And yes, "We love you Beatles" was a copy of "We love you Conrad": the reprise bit is the fact that the adoring fans keep coming back and singing "We love you Conrad" at various intervals in the show. It probably was more a comment on Elvis Presley's life history, as Conrad similarly gets drafted into the Army. |
