If I sent a rose to you
And if you took the petals and you tore them all apart,
If someday you're feelin' blue,

22 Apr 97 - 12:33 AM (#4166) Subject: Sister Josephine (lyrics) From: John I am in the unusual position of knowing the chords but no lyrics about nuns bemoaning the fact that Sr, Josephine had left after having such a good time gambling, drinking etc. with them. The departed nun is surely an escaped prisoner but the nuns are oblivious to this fact. Possibly written by Jake Thackray? Any clues please. |

23 Apr 97 - 10:48 AM (#4239) Subject: RE: Sister Josephine (lyrics) From: Bert Hansell Wow! That takes me back a few years. I think the last time I heard that was on TW3 (The English TV show 'That was the week that was'). Must have been back in the early sixties. I'll see if I can find my copy of Jake Thackray's 'On Again, on again' and transcribe some of his songs. I couldn't find any on DT. Thanks, Bert.

24 Apr 97 - 08:48 AM (#4283) Subject: RE: Sister Josephine (lyrics) From: AndyG Hi Bert, I've already transcribed Sister Josephine, Brother Gorilla, The Bantam Cock and Old Molly Metcalfe, and made them available to DT. (Only recently though). AndyG |
24 Apr 97 - 10:54 AM (#4284) Subject: RE: Sister Josephine (lyrics) From: dick greenhaus Hi AndyG- Haven't received aforementioned lyrics as yet; I'll keep an eye out for them. They won't make the very-soon-to-be-released April 1997 edition; we already have a total of 6500 lyrics and we're working on editiong, formatting and cross-referencing them. BUT (as far as the DT goes), after April, there's October. thanx. dick |
26 Mar 98 - 08:52 PM (#24690) Subject: RE: Sister Josephine (lyrics) From: John in Brisbane Hi Dick and Andy, I gather that Andy's lyrics to Jake's songs haven't yet materialised. I must admit that I only checked for 'Sister Josephine'. Jake's lyrics are too good to keep buried. Regards John |

We kept in touch and went to bookings etc. but then he disappeared totally. I'd love to know how he is. (I was Christine Jackson in those days!!) |
