Cecil Sharp House: Voices at the Door

From: EFDSS

Thought you might be interested to know that we have some great Christmas events coming up, including this week:

Thursday 9th December
Doors open 7.30pm

Coope Boyes & Simpson, Fi Fraser, Jo Freya and Georgina Boyes tell the story of carols - joyful and vigorous, darkly resonant or sublime - with tales of squabbling choirs, composers, collectors and controversy in a words and music programme of superb unaccompanied harmonies and fascinating historical detail.

Voices at the Door captures the essence of the season - and is the best possible start to Christmas.

"splendid, bright and vibrant... uplifting ... magnificently vigorous...piquant harmonies ... delightful details. I'd be happy to have these voices at my door any time!" fRoots

Tickets £14 advance/£17 on the door

More info on the EFDSS website

Sounds as though you could issue a recording of same.

That would be an excellent idea as I live 150 miles away and have no chance of seeing this lecture and entertainment although I am very interested in this subject, If the EFDSS want to take the first order for the DVD of this tell me where to send the cheque. Well?

Yes please, ditto. I live in Ireland so no hope of getting there.

There's an album of the same name to go with the performance which is available from No Masters or even Amazon.

We're definitely open to film offers too - can EFDSS bring in George Clooney to direct?

Too far for me, I'm afraid, but just noticed a similiar even closer to home - An Albion Christmas at the Pocklington Arts Centre, East Yorkshire, on 14th December, with Simon Nicol, Kelly While, Simon Care and Ashley Hutchings. That sound great!

We were at Helmsley and Coxwold in North Yorkshire (making it through the blizzards) last week. Hope the Albions have an easier journey.

Superb locations - I bet it was a wonderfully atmospheric evening! And well done for getting there - I didn't even make it to work.
