10 Dec 10 - 10:48 PM (#3050738) Subject: Folk Singing in Liverpool From: GUEST,ep I'm a native of Liverpool, about to move back there for a while, and I was wondering if people here might be able to fill me in on what regular folk-singing sessions are currently taking place on Merseyside? Hopefully of the pint-in-hand, singaround type - I'm less keen on things where people climb onto stage etc. I'm aware of the excellent Everyman Folk Club, and also of the Woodie Guthrie Folk Club at the Ship and Mitre (which I haven't had a chance to get to yet), so basically I'm wondering if there is anything out there beyond those two things? Any folk singing in a pub would do, I'm not majorly fussy. (Apologies if there's already a thread on this to which I should have added my question - I did a search and couldn't find anything recent) |

Occasionally they do a sing around night There you will meet others who know all the other places and times around tha area ie The Derby Arms at Aughton (Weds) and the The Ship Inn at Haskayne (Thurs) Welcome back and have a great time! mp |

It's on the 2nd Thursday of the month from around 8.00 p.m., free and extremely informal ~ we just go around the room (which isn't very big). I chose that day to avoid any clashes with the Woody Guthrie FC, which is on the final Thursday of each month. I list some other events on my blog: ReARM. |

I would also strongly recommend the Woody Guthrie Folk Club, unless you're one of those damned conservatives who don't like radical songs in case they give the servants ideas of course. A word of caution though. The joint invariably sells out and early. Hence admission is by ticket only, available from We Got Tickets. For more details go to http://www.woodyfolk.co.uk/ . However, the next night is the last Thursday in January, and there are no details on the site as yet. |
