12 Dec 10 - 06:43 AM (#3051636) Subject: Tech: Best Sensitive Cordless Lady Shaver UK From: Arthur_itus I have to move quickly on this one, as we need to get it in time for Christmas. My daughter who swims a lot, has asked if she can have a Sensitive Cordless Womens Shaver with Charging Stand. It should not be an epilator. So I guess maybe there are a few lady mudcatters living in the UK, who might be able to advise me on what might be best for her. It's open to men mudcatters as well :-) Many thanks for any help here, as there are so many and it's so difficult to pick out the good from the crap. |

It's technical advice I am looking for from mudcatters who have practical experience of such devices. A lot of mudcatters dont post in BS becuase of all the arguments etc that go on down there. However it it helps, here is a suitable song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChvnBVRt__o&feature=related |
12 Dec 10 - 09:04 AM (#3051714) Subject: RE: Tech: Best Sensitive Cordless Lady Shaver UK From: mauvepink Remington, Braun and Philips all do good ladyshavers BUT most are now combined with epilators (3 in 1's) I am not endorsing you buy from them but Boots usually have a good selection and an assistant that is knowledgable Good luck mp |

I know Sydney Carter wouldn't have been singing about a cordless lady shaver, but th epost brought his song to m ind. I'm sure we should all be in favour of cordless ladies. The alternative sounds horrid. |

12 Dec 10 - 09:37 AM (#3051726) Subject: RE: Tech: Best Sensitive Cordless Lady Shaver UK From: mauvepink Seems fine to me Arthur... Was looking at a Braun myself a couple of months ago but I could not afford the one I wanted. This one seems to have it all and is cheaper in price. I may even get one myself! Boots have the model in stock too at £29.99 Hope she likes it :-) mp |
12 Dec 10 - 10:01 AM (#3051733) Subject: RE: Tech: Best Sensitive Cordless Lady Shaver UK From: Arthur_itus Thanks mp Looks like it's solved. Probably get it from Boots then. |
12 Dec 10 - 10:10 AM (#3051745) Subject: RE: Tech: Best Sensitive Cordless Lady Shaver UK From: GUEST,erbert As we're above the line in the music section, try to get a shaver that buzzes in a constant pitch you can also tune a guitar to. I've read Brauns, if I remember correctly, were known for buzzing in "G". |
12 Dec 10 - 10:40 AM (#3051763) Subject: RE: Tech: Best Sensitive Cordless Lady Shaver UK From: Arthur_itus That's a good en erbert. She can tune her guitar with it now :-) |

No, please not Boots - not until they start paying their UK tax properly - see http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/dec/11/boots-switzerland-uk If Boots, Topshop and all the other retailers paid their UK Tax without moving their tax accounts to offshore advantageous tax havens then perhaps the poor of the UK would not be burdened with so many cuts in services. |
12 Dec 10 - 11:14 AM (#3051788) Subject: RE: Tech: Best Sensitive Cordless Lady Shaver UK From: Arthur_itus Good idea Vic Boots it's not. But hang on, Boots is the only chemist in our town. The doctors send the prescriptions directly to boots for us to pick up. Mind you I am retired, so I don't pay. So back to the original Boots it's not. |
12 Dec 10 - 11:32 AM (#3051802) Subject: RE: Tech: Best Sensitive Cordless Lady Shaver UK From: Yvonne Arthur I have the model you are proposing to buy. Please don't! It is dreadful. The blades are very poor and the power pathetic. Try a 'Ladyshave' model of some kind. They seem to be the best or buy a more expensive Braun. |
12 Dec 10 - 12:21 PM (#3051827) Subject: RE: Tech: Best Sensitive Cordless Lady Shaver UK From: mauvepink Looks like Yvonne is right to! I just found these Reviews on Amazon ... Good call Yvonne and thanks! I had one reseved for me at Boots tomorrow. Back to my old but trusted Philips Ladyshave! Sorry arthur :-( mp |

I had a look but am not finding one that I can put my heart on. Can you give me any review links to ones that you think are good. |
12 Dec 10 - 03:18 PM (#3051947) Subject: RE: Tech: Best Sensitive Cordless Lady Shaver UK From: Noreen Go to your local library and ask to look at "Which" magazines- there will be a review of such things. Then order from Amazon, free delivery- and if you order through the Mudcat link a donation goes to Mudcat funds. I'd be interested in the results too :) |

13 Dec 10 - 12:32 AM (#3052208) Subject: RE: Tech: Best Sensitive Cordless Lady Shaver UK From: Arthur_itus Totally bemused. The problem as I could see with the Philips Ladyshave is that it's only rechargeable. So if you forget to charge it and need to use it at the last minute (that's my daughter), you are knackered. I have found this one, which isn't too expensive, so if it isn't the answer for my daughter, we won't have spent too much. However, it's Braun, but is battery operated which might be better for my daughter as she forgets to charge things. The reviews seem to be pretty good. http://reviews.argos.co.uk/1493-en_gb/4424754/reviews.htm I will wait for Noreen's comments. :-) |
