Sure, fine... I announce I want to come and nobody else posts.
C'MON, PEOPLE!!!

Cindy & Grey are musically delightful and the warmth spreads from them along with waves of sound.

I really would like to know if I can get a "Back When We Were All Machines" ringtone for my cell. (I may have to settle for Lady Gaga.)

We have a number of people coming from my 'Folkie' email group, so we should have a good crowd, weather permitting!

I love Cindy Kallet's music and have done for many years, but as I am in Australia it is a bit difficult to get to Maine... Hope it goes well. Maybe next year!

There's a nice article about the new song, "Back When We Were All Machines" and Cindy and Grey's video by the same name, in Midcoast Maine's Village Soup, written by Dagney C. Ernest.

Thanks, maeve. That video disturbs me. Every day I watch young women walk by our office glued to cell phones while their babies either cry for attention or worse stare blankly. No interaction. It is heartbreaking.
I'd like to snatch the damn cell phone away and show them where they need to pay attention.
Rant over.

Possible contingent from Tir na nOg may be there... we're still recovering from the three days we spent, just before Christmas, butchering our last two pigs. (Really, we ended up providing a "learning lab" for a young butcher who pretended to know a lot more than he actually did. The pigs were dispatched cleanly, but the rest was messy and exhausting.)

I think a night out at SINSULL's with such stellar musicians might be just the thing to cleanse our spirits!

Is there still room for two, possible four, more attendees?

The weather looks good and we are expecting a good sized crowd if all of the newcomers make it. Haven't heard from Tami but she may be away for the holidays.
I know Jeri needs a bed and some of the "fans" may too. Anyone else? I want to make sure you have clean sheets and towels. LOL
Winter parking ban is 12AM to 6AM so if you are staying overnight park in the driveway or on the grass.
All systems go.

We had one hell of an evening. A full house, with a lot of new faces, and an excellent concert from Cindy and Grey.

The after concert sing was very good - again, new faces and voices made it quite memorable.

Kendall really got into the swing of things, jamming along with Cindy until just before 1am when we finally left for home.

We've just woken up and will be heading out for breakfast with the crowd once Kendall's had his coffee.

I'm hoping that some of the new attendees might find their way back for future events.

Sins and Jacqui-

It was really a fine evening. I always enjoy seeing what excellent musicians do when they are relaxed. We heard some wonderful tunes weaving back and forth, fine songs, and intriguing stories behind the tunes and songs.

I also was impressed with the number of people who showed up who I'd never seen before, and how nicely they settled in to the informal singing session after the concert.

I do treasure the moment where I could follow up Song for Gale with Midwatches, which shares its melody along with Nightrider's Lament. It was fun watching Cindy and Grey playing along with the melody's twists and turns.

Looking forward to the next concert.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

The calm before the storm. Coffee's on; bacon is frying; cats fed; dog fed.
Everyone is still napping although someone was up earlier and showered.
We had an amzing evening. Grey and Cindy performed everything fromtrasditional Irish whistle and fiddle tunes to Back When We Were All Machine, New Years Rounds, Song For October (requested by Capt. Morse. All of it was wonderful. The crowd was at least 25 - I wasn't quite prepared but we sorted it out. Desserts, desserts, desserts. All followed by a couple of hours of home grown music. Banjos, fiddles, guitars, concertina.
A brilliant evening if I say so myself.
Front and center were two boys (9 & 11 I think) who seemed to know many of the lyrics and shouted them out joyfully. Hope we see more of them.
More later.

Ypps!

"an emergency gallbladder removal"

But thanks for the info.

Peter is supposed to be invulnerable to such bodily insults, like the rest of us.

I'll have to find or create an appropriate get well card. This could be a challenge.

I survived, but I'm gonna sleep tonight. I had a great time, and it was wonderful having so many folks there. I told Jacqui that intermission milling about felt a bit like Trafalgar Square on New Year's Eve--one could stand still and still be carried somewhere else in the room. I absolutely HATE crowds like that, but I was fine with that particular crowd, in that particular place.

The music was sublime. Much of the performances felt a bit private, but the best music I've ever heard is about love, and intimacy masquerading as mind-reading, generosity, kindness, and humor, which combines and flows out as audible joy. In a welcoming home, with no sound system, you get to hear just how achingly exquisite voices and instruments can be. I'm sorry some folks I expected didn't or couldn't make it.

Music after: I mostly listened. I really have to learn some songs. I haven't been trying because I don't have anywhere to sing them, but I miss having a repertoire at times like last night. I enjoyed listening to everyone else, and joining in when appropriate.

Thanks to Cindy and Grey, and thanks to Jacqui and SINSULL who persevered despite her terminal status. I'm glad YOU survived too!
