Lyr Req: The Silly Christmas Song Thread

Subject: Lyr Req: The Silly Christmas Song Thread
From: LadyJean

This began with a search for the lyrics for "The Fruitcake That Ate New Jersey" Then it occurred to me, why not just create a thread for silly Christmas songs, like "I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas". So, that's what I've done.

If someone does have the lyrics to, "The Fruitcake That Ate New Jersey", we can start there.

Hi - I saw this post & if I can learn a bit more about your site, I'd love to send you the lyrics (and, if possible, a link to how your readers can purchase the song and/or my other comedy CDs)

My computer doesn't have speakers. Or I might have checked out the song.

Merry Christmas from the Family is silly, in an adult sort of way....

This is one I picked up from 'Geordie-Peorgie' last Christmas - He wrote it while working in customer services for a bank - Say no more!

BRUNO

Everyone's heard of Rudolph.
The reindeer with the shiny nose
And Cupid and Dancer also
And the other ones I suppose
But nobody's heard of Bruno!
The reindeer no one talks about
This is a sad old story
I'll tell you how it came about.

One cold and icy Christmas Eve,
Bruno he was placed
One place behind Rudolph
And they set off at a pace.

It happened just over Margate,
They were flying through the dark
When something shot right across them.
Santa had to pull up sharp
With a screech of reindeer hoof-track
Like polystyrene on a dustbin lid
Bruno the brown-nosed reindeer
Couldn't stop as quick as Rudolph did.

Bruno the brown-nosed reindeer
Was a sorry sight to see
Covered in reindeer doo-dah
Not much shouting out with glee
All of the other reindeer
Turned their noses up at such a sight
Bruno the brown-nosed reindeer
Covered in reindeer ………….

Poop !!!

This song was the subject of a brief report on NPR on Dec. 26, 2010. Only a few lines are heard during that report:

THE FRUITCAKE THAT ATE NEW JERSEY (excerpt)
Lauren Mayer

The fruitcake that ate New Jersey
Never shows any mercy....

As the last crumbs of Newark fall from its fork,
Next on its menu is old New York,
With all of its victims churned like
Debris on the Jersey Turnpike....

The moral of this tale of woe and hurt:
Stick to the fruit cup and skip dessert.

Well, if parodies count, let's not forget these:

I've definitely found my home - I'm also the composer of "Chipmunks Roasting On An Open Fire". So I will be happy to post all those lyrics once I figure out how to join - thanks!
