E. Belden, new edition published by Review and Herald Publishing Association, 2008, page 740. The title page indicates that the hymnal was popular with Seventh-day Adventists until 1941. 771. Perhaps the most commonly used translation is by F.C.Birkit and begins: Wake, O wake, with tidings thrilling the watchmen all the air are filling, arise, Jerusalem, arise! If this looks interesting I'll happily type up the rest of the words for your friend, provided that he's survived being fried. |

The Doctor Thank you, it was the from Jim above that was sought. He was not fried, my typing was... Richard, why the comment about the "Z word" as you put it, it is commonplace for no end of Americans in the Methodist, Mormon etc religions? Has it somehow become politically incorrect and I have missed it? Personally, whilst my faith is currently somewhat tested, and as an Englishman, I know the word, firstly from the Bible (KJ6 and others), then from school assemblies (in the hymns) then at Sunday School (Hymns and Sermons - Gospel and Church of England), and through living in Bermuda and British Virgin Islands have become reunited with the word again. Sorry WysiwyG New to posting here, hence forgetting the Ident on Guest above (yes as you all know it was me)... but I do not understand. |
