The drive down was fine - fairly fast and, as I napped most of the way, very uneventful. Frank is now working on Kendall's banjo, which needs a bit of expert TLC and Kendall has his eyes closed, checking for holes in his lids. Tomorrow we head to Norfolk VA to spend the night with Bob Zentz before travelling on to N. Carolina to stay with Dani for a couple of days. Final destination is Florida, for a few days with Kendall's brother. |

Last night we went to Lenny's for seafood and then had a terrific little song circle at our house. Went around the circle several times, Jacqui sang and Kendall took his turn telling stories. The man's sense of humor is truly one of a kind. Never did see any of the punch lines coming! There were a lot of good songs, but the funniest was when poor Allan S. tried to sing a gloomy song with a high body count and everyone in the room provided sound effects for each pause in the action. Allan also has a terrific sense of humor and managed to persevere to the end. Woke up this morning to the sound of Jacqui's beautiful voice singing one of Kendall's originals with him accompanying on guitar. All I can say is that Frank better not get used to people TALKING first thing in the morning, now that the Mainers are gone... |

We've just been out for a wonderful meal and settled in for the evening, just relaxing. The snow followed us down - hopefully we can leave it here when we head south on Monday. Allan - we're only away for two weeks - not sure on the route but, if I have anything to do with it, we will be back with Barbara and Frank at some point! |

Filled them up with a good southern country supper of beef stew, cornbread and cole slaw - not to mention a few bottles of good, cheap wine -and they filled me up with good conversation and loving company. I don't often get to see them without a crowd around, and since I have moved from Hillsborough don't get to see much of Dani anymore. Ain't nothin' like a real, real good visit. I head for bed tonight a happy camper. The weather has taken a turn toward cold, and Kendall is threatening to head back to Maine to get warm. Tomorrow night Dani is hosting a supper and song circle and I am thrilled to know I have another wonderful evening to look forward to, spent with people I hold dear. |

Kendal has posted on the Yorkshire gathering weekend so looks like we shall see you there anyway. We are having the spiral staircase replaced with a proper one and having a shower room and toilet fitted to the top floor so it should be more comfortable and easier to negotiate! Peter |

We're back home - a combination of very bad weather in Georgia and my sciatica coming back and making me uncomfortable. Two days travel to get home and we got here just ahead of the storm that is forecast for tomorrow morning. It would have been fun to see more of the country, but the forecast for Georgia was such that we did not want to get caught driving through with ice and snow on the ground. My back has also been playing up - one or the other problem might have been surmountable, both meant the wisest course was to head home. Maybe another time we'll make it. However, we had a wonderful time with a number of very generous folk. We were made to feel so welcome wherever we stopped and the music was great. It was lovely to meet new people and reconnect with those we knew already. It is at times like these that I appreciate what the Mudcat can mean - none of these people would I have met if it was not for this site and I would have been the poorer for that. |

The timing was bad weather-wise and I was concerned about you continuing to head south. Southern States, for obvious reasons, don't have the equipment to quickly and efficiently get slick or icy roads well cleared quickly. That is the main reason just a few inches of snow, or a mediocre ice storm has such an impact. Loved our visit. And love to both of you. Janie |

We stayed overnight at the RAMADA INN in Fish Kill NY Monday and it was a far cry from what we had grown accustomed to on our trip. There was no soap in the Men's room, that always makes me wonder where or if they wash before serving. The Salmon was inedible. Not fresh at all, and it tasted more like Lobster bait than food for humans.$6.00 for a cup of onion soup! Next morning we took the "Free" breakfast and nearly froze in an unheated dining room. The breakfast was good, but putting warm food on an ice cold plate, and hot coffee into a frozen cup made me not linger. And all for a measly $100.00 Anyway, such places is one of the reasons I hate to travel. |
