I left Rhode Island way too soon.

Considering this is Stone Soup's 30th year, you must have left 31 years ago! Actually, if you go to the founders' information on the website, you will see that SS started in people's living rooms, and you'll see that the founders were following up on a suggestion from Pete Seeger. Stone Soup kept growing and has been in many churches and even briefly in the Slater Mill. In some ways that was a wonderful space but not large enough. The church hall where we are now has wonderful acoustics, perhaps because of the wooden vaulted ceiling. Where are you now? If you ever come back on a September-May weekend, check the website and join us!

As always, the line-up looks enticing, ChantyLass. I'd especially love to see and hear Rosalie Sorrels again.

If you're a mind to, you may have some thoughts to offer in a thread about a different vaulted ceiling, here: http://mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=135092&messages=43

Oh, of course, Maeve! That link leads to your tech thread. I have been following it as well as your other thread about your building process. And I know your yurt has a vaulted ceiling. I think it will be a wonderful venue for music and you are wise to gather information to maximize its potential.

And I would have been there tonight if I hadn't had a flat tire in Cranston, RI, when I was on my way to Pawtucket.

Schedule CHANGE

The person who books for Stone Soup has received word that Rosalie Sorrels will be unable to appear on April 9. Thomas Cobb, author of Crazy Heart, is still scheduled to do a reading/author talk. Stone Soup is looking for someone to fill the musical slot. I hope it could be someone whose music reflects a western influence. Any suggestions?

Please note: I am not on the board of Stone Soup, nor am I a "real" volunteer, just a frequent audience member who can pass on suggestions. In the meantime, someone else may be booked!

GUEST, mg: if you've never seen her, then you've never seen the very interesting set-up the drummer uses. I've never seen anything like it.

As I posted above on Feb. 13, Rosalie Sorrels will not be able to perform on April 9th. I understand that she is recovering well. On April 9th, Thomas Cobb, author or Crazy Heart, will still do his readings at 7 followed by the Lenny Solomon Band at 8. There is more than one Lenny Solomon on YouTube: this link will take you to a clip of the one who will appear at Stone Soup.
