(*I will NOT suggest standing on her head!)
The monitor usually has setting that can be accessed on the front... see if there ARE buttons and push the one on the left.

Is it upside down and mirrored?
If it is in XP and is not mirrored, try right clicking on the screen.
Select the correct item in the dialog box and click on that.
Then follow it out. My computer has an "NVidia settings" option. Clicking on that brings me to another dialog box which includes "rotate image."
Let the computer tell you how to correct the problem from this point onward.

I was NOT going to suggest that! I was going to suggest turning the house over.

The monitor has four buttons in the middle... One points up, one down and the other two toward the opposite sides...

When I click on the top one I get a box for contrast, color, rotation, etc... If I use the buttons that point to the sides then the ther various parts of the menus are highlighted... Kinda like a clock hand... I can get it to the "rotation" icon but then can't find any combination that flips it...

I've tried the the right click and can't find anything in there that is related to the screen???

When everything else fails, Bobert, I do a System Restore. Go back to an available date and have it restored to when everything was all right.

(Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore)

Good idea, Ebbie. I get to System Restore by clicking on Sart, then Help. System Restore is right there on the first page that comes up. (I use Windows XP.)

Well... the "flip monitor" page looks like it 'could' be the culprit, but I can't make it happen.
It sure would be easy to accidentally do it on some machines.

Well, well, well...

Since last posting I figured I'd take the tractor down the driveway and plow the 4 inches of new snow and get them mail... Problem is that one of the front tires was flat (Bobert luck) so I had to take it off and make my way down to the tire store for a new tube and just got back (5 inches of snow now) and the P-Vine tried the stuff that ya'll suggested and then remembered her friend Lina so...

... a quick call to LinaBean and it's fixed...

Ctrl+Alt+the arrow that points up!!!

All is well... And I made it up the driveway with my Toyota 4wd truck with tractor tire in the back...

Lord looks a fetr fools, drunks and kids...

Thanks everyone...

Yeah this only works for computers with certain video cards....use to pull this trick on workmates who left their computers unlocked...and then I'd lock the computer, so they would have to enter their log in information upside down...

Look, Bobert. You live in Virginia. Yorktown is in Virginia. When the Brits surrendered at Yorktown their band played "The World Turned Upside Down" as they marched out.

Whaddaya expect? Turn the world back over and it would be right side up. 'Course, you'd be under British rule....

A right click on the screen will just show properties of one of the shortcut icons if you click on an icon. Some icons have fairly large borders that capture the icon even if it looks like you're on a blank space between them.

If you click where a program is displayed, of course you only get properties for the program.

If you click (right click) in a blank part of the screen the options you see may depend partly on the graphics card and driver you have installed.

A fairly typical window when you right click on a blank place will show a "view" section. Among common "office" pranks, at the View location you can uncheck the "show icons" to make all of a victims desktop icons disappear.

Most of the popup windows that you get when you right click in a blank part of the screen will show a "graphic properties" and a "graphic options." In graphic options there is likely to be a "rotation" choice where you can choose which way to flop the desktop.

Separately, at "graphic options," you may have a choice for "hot keys" or something similar. The default for many graphics drivers is to have hot keys enabled, and that probably is required to have the Ctl-Alt-Arrow keys work to flip the desktop view around. If you uncheck the "hot keys" option before using the "rotation" to flip someone's screen, the Ctl-Alt-up arrow likely will fail to return things to normal.

Only a TDP (truly despicable prankster) would turn off all the icons and disable hot keys before rotating the screen on someone else's computer. Such a person would deserve to sit in a puddle of molasses in his/her chair, and to find salt in his/her coffeee and a dead mouse in a top left desk drawer. (...the documentable retaliations thus far seen ...)

Unfortunately, a TDP personality is seldom reformed by even the most deserved of responses.

It also works as:
Ctrl-Alt-Left/Right Arrow to turn screen through 90 degrees.
Useful if you want to attach the base of your monitor to a side wall to clear more desk space.
It will also help if you want to regularly view A4 documents with minimal scrolling!

Cheers
Nigel

I tried attaching my monitor to the wall. Stuck out about two feet and even duct tape didn't hold it up real good.

Is it true that they have monitors now that show stuff in something other than green? When I bought it I was told it was a color monitor and when I asked the sales guy later he said "Green is a color" and when I went there again the store had gone out of business.

Rap -

I have the receipts from when I traded in my green monitor to one that showed in YELLOW on black 'cause it was easier to read during long sessions. Some of the green ones were actually more of a GREEN on green that didn't have crisp contrast. There's always choices.

And I threw out a bunch of storage drawers for 5-1/4 floppies just before discovering that they're a perfect fit for CDs/DVDs in the thin jewel boxes.
