I'm hoping to see Archie and Garnett at the Blackstone River Theatre, which is really in Cumberland, not Pawtucket, but the BRT is only about 6 miles from Stone Soup which IS in Pawtucket!

I wish the stop in New York wasn't on a Thursday. School night; can't go.

That's an American tour, not a North American tour.

Tim, I'm sorry the thread title is displeasing to you. Archie tends to run the Canadian leg of his North American tour in the late summer and fall. When those dates are available I'll add them to the thread.

Oh, I wish there was a Maine gig in there! Ah, well. I hope folks nearer to these locations will take advantage of the opportunity!

I just made my reservation to see Archie and Garnet at the Blackstone River Theatre in Cumberland. I'm pretty sure at least 4 of my friends will go, too.

I saw him recently performing in a club in London ( UK ), and he explained he correlates his tours with opportunities for horse-riding.
Hey, whatever rings your chimes.

If only he'd come a bit further south - Texas has horses, too!

Anyone who has suggestions regarding good venues for a seemingly neglected area can contact Wooden Ship Productions to suggest new tour routes.

ranger1- It would be about 1 1/2 hours from Portland.

Make that "about 2 1/2 hours".

Just want to remind everyone who plans to see Archie Fisher with Garnet Rogers at the Blackstone River Theatre on April 10 that the Blackstone River Theatre is in Cumberland, RI, not Pawtucket. Their website provides good directions and parking information here:

It's also a good idea to make advance reservations because this concert may sell out. The best way to do that is by phone at 401-725-9272.

What an incredible delight the Archie Fisher & Garnet Rogers concert was Saturday night in Kent Ohio. I'd seen them as a duo in the mid 80s at the legendary Holstein's in Chicago, & in all the years in between, cherished their duo album and hoped to see them together again.

In the interim, I'd been part of the Celtic Ceol group who brought Garnet to the Cleveland area a few times. I loved hearing him tell stories about his life, each visit full of new outrageous, yet true, tales. A highlight of the evening was Garnet reading a bit from a book he's writing about his wild times while traveling as part of Stan's band. I'm hoping that the book comes out both as hardback and as audio book with Garnet reading it, because he's got a great delivery in telling tales.

A whole aspect of who Archie Fisher is came through this second time hearing him live: the love of horses and the people who work with them, and his delight in his own horses. I realized that beyond the music, this was something he shares with Garnet. I was struck again what an amazing guitarist Archie is. My companion for the evening was muttering in awe throughout the show. Garnet was quipping that part of the fun for him in touring with Archie is trying to steal his guitar licks. His swift and funny reply was just part of the grand banter that was as entertaining as the songs. I wish I'd been able to zoom along to Chicago to catch a repeat - this was every bit the concert of the year I'd been expecting. Hearing songs for the first time live from each of them, a complete thrill, as was putting a more complete feel to who the man is behind Archie's recordings I've played for decades now.

Sadly, there was a meagre audience in Kent, and several of us made a point of thanking the folks running the venue for their hosting such shows. I played hookey from my monthly dance band gig to get to this show & encourage those in the areas where they've yet to play - sell the dog, rent the kids, call in sick, just GO.

No tour in Southern, California? Even Northern, California?

I would love to see Archie & Garnet but it seems like Garnet never tours anywhere in California. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to go out of Calif to see them. Don't recall if Archie has ever played in Southern, California.

I could possibly get to Northern, California which is about 400 miles north but just cannot manage a trip further away.

That post would be from Robyn Boyd, Archie's USA Booking Manager.

She has confirmed that when we have a venue request or recommendation we need to contact her at Wooden Ship Productions (link above.) If we REALLY want to make it possible for Archie or her other wonderful clients to perform at our favorite venues, we'll make sure said venues' person in charge of booking has enough information to know this is a musician area customers will come out to see. Radio song requests can even influence such decisions. These days (and in the past, as well), it takes a bit of effort to make it possible for Musicians' agents to snag gigs. We can help.

April 2011 dates as well! From JMI:
"Archie Fisher will be touring the USA in April of this. He had a couple of free days in the middle of the tour, and asked if we could book some Ontario dates during that time frame, and we have done that. Archie has only three dates in Canada in April. Here is where you can catch him at that time.

April 11         Toronto, ON         Flying Cloud Folk Club
April 14         Picton, ON         The Acoustic Grill
April 15         London, ON         Aeolian Hall
It is possible that Archie might yet have something on the 12th or 13th, so keep an eye on the JMI news page. Archie will be back for a western tour in November of this year - stay tuned for details on that as the routing comes together." http://www.jproductions.com/news.html#100218archie
