Chippenham 40th

Hi all. Not been here for a while but just wanted to let you know where Chippenham is going. What with Trowbridge and Oxford Festivals not now happening we just wanted to assure everyone that we ARE going ahead this Year. It is special because it's our 40th but also because we have had to re-arrange things a bit. With the re-arrangement of our main studion Hall at the Olympiad leisure Centre, we have made the move back to smaller concerts and folk club style events. Concerts will happen at the Constituional Hall, The Bear Hotel, The Cause, The Angetl Hotel, The Rose and Crown AND the stuidio Hall. This will give more opportunity for more folk club style events. All events at Chippenham will have event tickets available but will of course be only on the door if there is room.
Take a look at the latest list of singers and musicians on the festival website and you will see that it's all about singing!
One additional extra for you morris dance friends is the siting of a huge big top show tent to put all the arena displays during the day. No more Wet weather problems. this also meand that there is the opportunity to hold one or two large concerts for those that like 'em. More about this in the latest newsletters which can be found on www.chippfolk.co.uk

A Big Top for the Island Park? That will enable Taskforce to swing into action on trapezes, just like their badge!

Delighted to say we'll be there (and, yes, the rumours are true - performing) - thanks to Gill and Bob for keeping one of our most favourite festivals going.

It is a good festival ,although I preferred Chippenham and Laycock, Laycock was special. I must have been booked there several times once with the New Mexborough Concertina Quartet, three times[at least solo, and once as a duo.
It must be 15 years since I was last there[ who do I bribe?]

Like Tom and Tom, Keith and are are really thrilled and honoured that we've been asked to join in the celebrations. Really looking forward to it.

Also, Taskforce and trapezes, can't wait! :)

Just had a quick look at the website. Might consider going next year if funds allow.

Quick question - Is there only day or weekend tickets available? Is it possible to buy tickets for individual acts/ceilidhs?

Why not ask them direct. However I'm sure there would be. At least for the Barn dances. Concerts might be sold out.

LDT - don't forget to take into account that the Bank Holiday next year will be the first weekend in June (with an extra day) to take account of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Some people were caught out in 2002 when they'd made plans assuming that Chippenham would be the weekend before the last Monday in May!
