16 Feb 11 - 09:24 AM (#3096438) Subject: D McF Black Swan 17 Feb 11 From: BusyBee Paul As he seems to be hiding his light under the proverbial bushel, here's notice that Duncan McFarlane is guest at the Black Swan Folk Club, Peasholme Green, York YO1 7PR tomorrow evening. He'll be accompanied by Anne Brivonese on the fiddle, they make a fine duo if ever there was one!. Doors open 8pm, tickets £7, £6 conc. so says the folk club website. Might there be cake? Deirdre |

18 Feb 11 - 02:20 PM (#3098127) Subject: RE: D McF Black Swan 17 Feb 11 From: HipflaskAndy Twas a fine gig - them Black Swanners sure know how to sing-a-long-a-chorus! Folk club of the year 2009 - and still holding the title! The 'awards' didn't call one for 2010 - so well done Roland and co! You get to hang on to the honour! Bless! A large number of Norwegian students filled the back two rows! They were a real enthusiastic bunch - and they were heading back 'home' today. Hope they have a safe trip - that's a lot of McF CDs heading to fresh ears over there - rah! A 'lively' gig to say the least - great mirth and fun all night - well done you lot! And the MC bought me a whisky (as it was my bithday!) - cheers! I finally got to make my new 'public announcement' too! I cease the day-time job in March - now need to make my crust from music, from here on in! Let's hope there'll be lots more nights like York FC - Cheers! - Duncan |
20 Feb 11 - 05:12 AM (#3098950) Subject: RE: D McF Black Swan 17 Feb 11 From: Nigel Paterson Congratulations Duncan...I'm sure 'turning pro' will be one of the best decisions you've ever made...still don't understand why it's taken you so long! I wish you every success...couldn't happen to a nicer, more talented chap. Nigel. |
20 Feb 11 - 05:17 AM (#3098954) Subject: RE: D McF Black Swan 17 Feb 11 From: Lizzie Cornish 1 I agree 100% with Nigel, Duncan. You and your band should all be up there headlining folk festivals along with the rest of the very best the folk world has to offer. Your musical repertoire is so diverse too, acoustic solo, acoustic band, folk rock electric band, and all are as enjoyable as each other. Loads of love to you all and masses of good wishes. 21 Feb 11 - 06:39 AM (#3099622) Subject: RE: D McF Black Swan 17 Feb 11 From: HipflaskAndy Just in case anyone gets the wrong idea from Liz's post... The band aren't going pro - it's just me, 'solo'. The band members have full-time day-jobs. My own musical aims will focus on teaching guitar and recording other people in the 'new studio' - and as much solo 'live' work as I can muster! Thanks for the best wishes - Dunc |
