21 Feb 11 - 07:06 AM (#3099635) Subject: New Tune Session Byflee UK Starts Mon 28 Feb From: G-Force We live near Byfleet in Surrey and although we have a great local folk club, tune sessions are a bit thin on the ground in this area. To remedy this we're trying to start one at the Blue Anchor in Byfleet and if successful it will run on the 4th Monday of each month at 8.30pm, starting this month on 28th. All musicians will be very welcome and we're hoping for a good mixture of tunes. Playing by ear or by dots - it's entirely up to you and we're always happy to dish out copies of favourite tunes for beginners or people who prefer to learn that way. It would be great if anyone in the area can make it, especially on our first night. The pub has agreed to give it a go and see what happens and we're hoping for as much support as possible from fellow enthusiasts. Hope to see you there. |

01 Mar 11 - 09:58 AM (#3104952) Subject: RE: New Tune Session Byflee Next Mon 28 Feb From: G-Force Well, that was a promising start. Twelve musicians (plus one audience), playing between them 2 guitars, 3 fiddles, 2 mandolins, 3 melodeons, 4 concertinas (1 C/G, 1 G/D, 1 English, 1 Duet) and a tin whistler/recorder player. Plus occasional bodhran and piano accordian. And there was a choice of 4 real ales. So thanks to all who came (from as far afield as Haslemere and Newbury!), and see you again on the 28th March. |
