Lyr Req: Summer Solstice songs

I've been asked to find a Summer Solstice Song that has a sing-along chorus, so I can entertain an audience of dancers during a break. Lots of May songs come to mind, but no summer solstice songs. Any ideas? Thanks!

Difficult one. I think the Scandiwegians celebrate St John's Eve - June 24th or so - about then. My Danish former neighbour used to give his hedge its annual cut on that date.

Try the Druids?

Druid Rock "What shall we do with a Drunken Druid?" Hmmmm... not quite sure. But thanks anyway. Moment of Zen for sure.

If you type in "Solstice" in the thread title box, at the top of the threads main page, then use the drop down menu and choose "All," then it GO, you will come up with a bunch of solstice threads, some of which contain songs and are for summer. You will have to wade a bit as there are many for winter, too. I know we've had some posted before. Good luck and have fun!

P.S. I guess Sumer Is Icumen is more for Spring?

"Summon up the Sun" written by Mike O'Connor is a fantastic song IMHO which goes through the whole year though doesn't focus particularly on the summer solstice; it does have a seasonal and "ritual calendar" feel to it. It might be worth a listen; it's on "Songs from the Derbyshire Coast" by Keith Kendrick who I believe used to sing with The Druids. Hope this is helpful.
