Is she bringing the Satanic Dreadnought?

Hmmmm, Tuesday evening?

I'm thinking about it. I haven't heard her sing since the Rockport Festival in the 1980's.

Back when our "Ceilidh House" organization was going full steam, we hosted Sara & her son Kieron for a concert in Freeport. They were both enjoyable, but Sara's exquisite clawhammer banjo playing and evocative ballad-spinning had us completely captivated. Her knowledge of American & British ballad traditions is almost unparalleled, yet the way she presents them is marvelously accessible.

Sara's CDs remain favourites in our household and I credit her with reviving my Sweetie's passion for the banjo--not the rapid-fire bluegrass playing, but another sound altogether: eerie, spare, and riveting.

Come see her if you can, folks.

(Count us as two maybes, we're going to try to rework our schedules.)

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the venue has been changed to our house in Scarborough. PM me for the address and directions.

Sara had to pull out of the Haddenham (UK) festival in December because she was poorly (we had to make do with just Kieron and Ben Paley), so I'm very glad to hear that she's sufficiently mended to get out there and wow Maine....

Kitty

PS Kieron and Ben were pretty good

That's a shame Holly. You two will be missed.
For the record, I was holding a sandwich in my other hand. Some of you are very kind and concerned and some have their minds in the gutter.
heh heh

Well folks, I can only feel sorry for those who missed it. We had a small but very appreciative audience. What a treat to hear Sara again, and Keirons guitar was exactly right.
They are welcome back anytime.

What a beautiful evening. Sara and Kieron played and sang a wonderful selection of songs or variations of songs that most of us had never heard before. Wonderful stuff. Lovely harmonies. It was a very special eveing.
Jacqui and Kendall provided a feast. Lots of desserts including a birthday cake for Sara and Tami.
For those who could not make it, do not miss them in Camden or catch them at the West's in York.
Thank you all for a wonderful night. Have to learn Belle Star and the song about the "unfortunate" sailor.

What Kendall and Mary said.

Numbers were disappointing, but made for a more intimate setting for those who were there. Sara and Kieron were excellent - they work so well together and obviously enjoy doing so. I could have gone on listening

A very good evening.

What a delightful evening! I found out that not only do Sara and I nearly share the same birthday, but we're both from neighboring towns in New Hampshire! And for those you can make it to either Camden, the Wests', or Boston, DO IT!!!

Wish I could have been there. Have known Sara since the very early 70's and Kieron since he was a little boy. Hope he did Harrison Brady. Great song.
