BS: from Kendall: Help me sell my 'Kitchen' book

Subject: BS: Kendall.Help me sell my book.
From: kendall

Hey folks, I now own all the rights to my first book and I need to sell them. $7.00 each. Any ideas? Amazon has used ones; maybe E Bay?

Which book is that, Kendall? I have "Stories Told in the Kitchen".

You have it Mate. The postage to the UK would up the price a bit.

If anyone wants an autographed copy they need only say so; I'm not going to presume.

I can put them on your website on the front page. Have Jacqui send me a photo Captain. I will get to it tomorrow ...

my ex, who specializes in selling books uses
Alibris and ABEbooks...these sites have many
book dealers and are used often to locate
books...you might ask him to advise you as to
how to list these for you...or perhaps he could
carry these for you...piercebooks@cncnet.com
is how you can reach Wayne Pierce, wonderful
books by mail.

Thanks for the input. Maybe I should add that at $7.00 a copy there is not a lot of profit to be made if I deal with a store because they cost me too much to start with. However, if I sell retail I can afford to sell them for the 1995 price including postage.

Have some with you everywhere you go, so you have them at hand. I've read of some, now best-sellers, who started out selling theirs from the trunk/boot of their cars, door-to-door.:-)

How about setting up at any fairs/fests?

Here is one of the finest and funniest collections of Downeast humor ever. Maine's premier storyteller, Kendall Morse, blends the best of old favorites with many new tales for one of your most enjoyable reading experiences in years. One of Maine's master storytellers, author, singer, humorist and television host, Kendall Morse brings together old favorites and many new tales in this narrative of a typical year in the Northeast-including seven basic seasons; a cross-section of colorful characters like Wallace Mallet who built a coffin with a rudder and centerboard, the better to sail into the Great Unknown; and outlandish critters like the retriever that couldn't swim and the trout that drowned. Uproariously illustrated by Tim Sample, Stories Told in the Kitchen has something for everyone: wit, humor, and the kind of understated incredibility that is as Downeast as clam chowder and blueberry pie, and is almost as sustaining. One of the funniest and finest collections of Downeast humor ever!

Dan, it's the old book. I just recently got control of the rights and I want to start advertising it.
For Canadian postage I should think $2.00 would do it. If you don't think it's worth $9.00 I'll buy it back!

I think this book should be required reading for all Mudcatters. It's a real gem.
Funny, too.

Kendall, why don't you use this thread for soliciting orders? Your book should mail just fine in a plain manila envelope (like the ones they use for selling more salacious material....)

I have a first edition copy of this book :-) It's Maine humor at its finest, even if I have heard all the stories a bazillion times. The fact that we have the same last name doesn't make this opinion biased at ALL!

Bert, just send us a check for $7.00 to: 120 Sawyer rd. Scarborough Maine 04074.

Better grab them now before the price increase which is on the horizon.

You say that it's a limited press run of, say, 250 copies. You mark each one "1/250". Autograph each one with something like "Hey! You inspired a bunch of these! Your buddy, Kendall".

Every word is true: it IS one copy of 250 and it WAS inspired so you could make some cash.

Up the price and advertise a chance to win a JacquiC shawl. The winning ticket tucked into one book and all the books shuffled so you don't know where ticket is. Market it with some cute line about snuggling up with a good story.

So, the book is in the auction and the high bidder will have a choice of any crocheted item that they want. (Within reason of course!)

She knows.
I'm as lucky as I have any right to be.

My Brother asked me why I got married so late in life and I told him, "If you get a good one, she's worth waiting for; if you get a bad one, you don't have as long to live with her."
