My nephew's looking for a decent, playable second hand 5 string banjo, not too expensive as he's out work.
He's living in Edinburgh at the moment.
PM me.

If he is looking a cheap one of decent quality, check this item on ebay.
There are a few other good second hand ones on there at the moment.

Thanks - I asked because I am currently thinking of selling my Gold Tone Open Back banjo as I have recently upgraded. Its a fine banjo which I have fitted with a fibreskin head and planetary tuners. Its not new as I bought it as a Gold Tone Kit although it had already been made up by Andy Perkins of Faversham Kent who is a wellknown banjo maker. Its about 10 years old and plays really well. If interested get back to me and I will send some photos. The amount quoted is about what I would be asking for it but could probably include the cost of sending it.

IMHO the best value cheap banjo in the UK at the moment is this one. It's a third world copy of a Deering Goodtime (another fine but not as cheap banjo) which is well made of maple and sounds great. I've played several belonging to different people, and the tone is very dependable. Eagle Music (in Huddersfield) is a shop wich specialises in banjos (they're the main dealer in the world for Deering) and their banjos always come well set up.
I have nothing to do with Eagle music - I just think they do a great job.

"Banjo wanted, Edinburgh area"

Is this a diabolical scheme hatched by a Glaswegian?

When I was last in Edinburgh (admittedly about 5 years ago!)& walked into the city from a hotel in Craigmillar I passed a couple of second hand shops which had banjos in the window.
