Just a quick note to say that I shall be guesting at Stortfolk Music Club on this Thursday, 17 March. Those of you who know me will be aware that during the last couple of years I have been taking a show about the life and work of Lucy Broadwood out and about with Ralph Jordan. However,on this occasion it will be a solo night of unaccompanied song from me, with material drawn from English, Canadian, Scottish and even Irish traditional sources. There will inevitably be one or two songs from the collecting of Lucy Broadwood and family, but on this occasion they will be very much in the minority, and I have the chance to sing a few of my old favourites as well. Even more shocking (for those who know me) there may even be a couple of chorus songs included!

Full details can be found at the Stortfolk Music Club home page
If you feel like coming along it would be lovely to see you there!

Sounds good! I enjoyed the show when you did it in Lewes.

Have great evening, Irene. Sadly, I can't get up to Bishops Stortford that day as my violin teacher is getting her whips and chains ready for me in the evening. But I hear that the old squeezer Alan Day will be ready to serenade you...

My best kept secret is now out.
Even Jon was sworn to secrecy.
The violin teacher is now going to give you hell!!

Well, no doubt if Will was expecting whips and chains, being given hell will be a bonus? Nice surprise Al ... it'll be nice to have some support from a familiar face or two. You must be nuts coming all that way ... LOL. (Maybe you should reconsider your musical partnership if the other one can't be trusted to keep your secrets?)

With these preferences (and a few more besides)it makes me suspicious as to why he took me on as a playing partner. I suppose you have to put up with a few things for musical enjoyment.
See you tonight Irene .

Have a good evening Irene and Al - and, Al, don't forget to put the tights on under your moleskins. It gets chilly up that way...

I am looking forward to finding a Stortford once owned by a Bishop.
OK Will you can share it with me.

Thanks Jerry :-) Much appreciated. Seemed to go all right - although who am I to say. A friendly club, and some nice floor spots (Mr Day - herewith renamed Alan a Dale from now on - provided a goody).
