I'm looking for the dots to MOVING MOON by JON STOPPARD.
I know it's on various CD's, but a beginers group I run has asked me if I can get hold of the music.
Has it been published anywhere??

regards
Anglogeezer

Hi, Geezer-

Are there lyrics to this song? If so, could you post them? Thanks.

I recorded this beautiful tune (with Jon's permission) some years ago on a CD I made with Gordon Tyrrall, and have used it in many a melodeon workshop.

I shouldn't imagine Jon would object if I sent a copy to your group, so PM me with your email address.

I don't think there were ever any words unless someone added them to the original tune.

I should have mentioned that the fiddler whose version I linked to above plays with Loscoe State Opera - worth looking out for.

I know this is an old thread but, for those interested since Smokey's devastating death last week, yes, there are/were lyrics. I wrote them when he completed the tune as part of a project we set ourselves, but, after much deliberation, we decided that, as so often, the music expressed itself, achieved it's aims etc better without words. Think of it as a vocalise as in Clara Rockmore's Theremin version of the Rachmaninov. Anna Brooks version is superb.

I am very sad to report the passing away of my great friend of many years Jon Stoppard the author of the The Moving Moon and many other great tunes. Jon gave my daughter Hannah James some of her first piano accordion lessons and was a great encouragement to her and has followed her musical career ever since.

Hi, I too run a beginners music group and after hearing this played at the lobster Potties festival at sheringham I'd like to try it out on my group.
Does anyone have this in any form of dot notation?

Here's the ABCs as I have them.

The simple tune was sent to me by Brian Peters but just where I picked up the harmony line I can't remember!

Nice to see this beautiful tune - which I've taught to many people over the years - still doing the rounds.
