One of the singers sang a song which was commenting on the "moderisation of Pubs" at that time. The chorus was Cos there's a stripper in the public bar, a monster fruit machine There's chinsey chinsey paper on the wall And I hear there going to get a telivision set Oh it isn't like a public house at all Anybody know the song title and who wrote it, I have asked around over the years but with no luck. |

I know it should be chinzy I just wrote it down phonetically (and thats probably spelt wrong. Also Know is just a typo saw i had made a mistake when I printed the song off for my file but could not be bothered to change it.Guessed that alan abit would work it out. I have also been it touch with Miles Wootton and he said he wrote the song and it was so long ago he coul;d not remember if he gave it a title. I had enclosed the words I had for him to correct any I had got wrong but he did not seem to find anything wrong. So I guess I will have to use my own title for it. He did however say feel free to sing it. |

But I also thought that even though alanabit (and I, and many others) probably know the word chintzy, I wouldn't assume everyone does. Especially years from now, there could be folks looking at this thread who don't -- and just sing or pass on whatever they find here, no questions asked. There are words -- especially in older songs -- that aren't used much these days, and younger folks don't seem to be familiar with them. If they don't know the word -- and don't know how to spell it, it's gonna be almost impossible for them to look it up (if they bother to), so I thought it was worth mentioning... hope you don't mind. |
