Stephen Green - WOW!! Deliverance - The Band (and the tune too, along with a few others) I'm not a festival organiser, but if I were, I'd have these guys booked to headline...Yeesh, but they're great! :0) Stephen's Facebook Page |

I would never support a group of people so silly and so shallow that they would name their band 'Deliverance.'" Good job folks didn't think like that about The Beatles or The Rolling Stones I guess. It's just a band name, leeneia and to poopoo their music because of that makes no sense to me, but...you're perfectly entitled to your opinion though. pete, I'm not a great bluegrass fan either, but when it's played like that, well..gosh, it gets me listening! J. T. Oglesby's another fine example of that, wonderful musician.. |

30 Aug 17 - 06:47 PM (#3874386) Subject: RE: Deliverance - The Band - Blues&Bluegrass From: michaelr Deliverance is not a bad movie, if you can stomach Burt Reynolds. It features the instrumental now known as "Dueling Banjos", which is an arrangement by Eric Weissberg and Steve Mandell of the bluegrass classic "Feudin' Banjos," composed in 1955 by Arthur "Guitar Boogie" Smith. Snopes has an article on the tune and the movie. I have no idea what leneeia is on about. |

30 Aug 17 - 07:15 PM (#3874388) Subject: RE: Deliverance - The Band - Blues&Bluegrass From: gillymor Weissberg actually toured with a band called "Eric Weissberg and Deliverance" including Mandel, back when "Duelin' Banjos" was a hit for him. I saw them open for Doc Watson in the early '70's. He could pick some banjo. Dueling Banjos |
