"That's it?"

"Yup, that's it."

"Doesn't look like a shear bolt to me."

"If yer auger gets jammed, that's what you need."

"Okay, gimmie two."

$1.25 each for two 3mm hex bolts and nuts.

Upon arriving home yesterday afternoon, I immediately looked at an auger on my Honda snow blower and saw the hex bolt. It goes thorugh the flange on the auger and holds in place the piece that accepts THE FUCKING SHEAR BOLT! I decided to wait until this morning to return to Honda.

"I was hear yesterday afternoon to get auger shear bolts for my snow blower and the other cleark gave me these."

"Yup. Those are shear bolts."

"No. Those are little bolts and nuts. The shear bolt is about that long and has a hole in the end for a cotter pin."

"Oh. You mean these? These are shear bolts too."

He had a box of about fourty next to a box of the hex bolts and nuts NEXT TO HIS PHONE! &^%^*#@*

So I said to myself, "Shut up and smile."

I paid the man and wished him a good day and left. I looked at the two plastic packages and there was a cotter pin in each. I looked at the recipt... cotter pin... 2@$1.00... aaaagggghhhhhhhhh!

Honda must be payin peanuts on accounta they are hirin monkeys!

So I remeber buying some plastic comes and asking the clerk - "so this are a quarter apiece?" . And she answers - "No - they're four for a dollar".

Plastic comes? I don't want to think about that.

Well, gnu, I must _ I dont' really have to - say that it is a good idea to look at your Honda snowblower shear bolt needs before going to the store.

And yes, I am waiting to hear Wesley's explanation.

Wesley, I never heard of a price of less than two bits each, and that was in stories dated way before I was born.

Ebbie... I know my shear bolts (pins, if you prefer). So I didn't bother to look at the Honda first. I also try to be polite to people so I accepted that the parts guy knew what he was talking about. I was actually anxious to see how the safety mechanism with small threaded bolts worked on a Honda snowblower. Them Japanese are pretty innovative eh. Turns out the shear bolts work the same way on NA made blowers... thay are made the same way... they look the same... they are the same.

"Excuse me.... EXCUSE ME! Are you gonna pick that up?"

"Pick what up?"

"What your dog just did."

"My dog didn't do anything."

"Ma'am, I just watched you watch your dog do what it did. I can see it under the fence from here. I can SEE it. You are standing ten feet from it. Are you gonna pick it up?"

"My dog didn't do that. My dog peed."

"Ma'am, there is a bylaw against letting your dog shit where I mow the grass. Pick up the dogshit or it's gonna be on your front step in ten minutes."

The retorts and snorts from her (she lives about ten houses away and is about about 70 years old) were very surprising. She became indignant, cursed, called me names... and cleaned up.

Thirty minutes later, a large young man approaced me and he was obviously angry.

"What did you say to my mother?"

"You mean the dog shit lady?"

"You're lucky I..."

"Want me to show you? I was videoing Humming Birds when the dog took a shit... let me play it back for you."

"Iiii'm sorry. She has her... moments."

"No sweat man."

It was a Sony moment. >;-)

Oh my oh my oh my!

". . . so I accepted that the . . . guy knew what he was talking about."

In that direction lies death, destruction, doom, and despair!

Don... especially if I hadn't gone back for real shear bolts... I live in Moncton, New Brunswick eh? It's snowing like a banshee right now. Just had to reboot as we had a power bump.

I am glad spring has arrived.

Banshees don't snow, they howl, or comb their hair, or pedict deaths, or maybe all at once, I don't know. But snow they don't.

I know that some of UK Network Rails suppliers can charge hundreds of pounds for a fairly ordinary nut and bolt.

But banshees wail, howl... as does the tempest.

Add snow to that and ya got yerself a nor'easter... banshee's a bitch too.
