Lyr. Add: APRIL SHOWERS (Lafort)
Music by Jules Lafort, words from "Old and New"

1
Jewel-like the raindrops glisten,
Joyously I sit and listen,
Listen to the glad refrain
Beat upon the window pane.

Chorus (Joyously)-
April show'rs Bring May flow'rs,
April show'rs Bring May flow'rs,
April show'rs Bring May flow'rs.

2
Happy thoughts in me welling,
At the tale the rain is telling,
Telling o'er and o'er again
As it taps the window pane.
3.
To and fro the birds are winging;
Hearken to their blithsome singing!
Singing as they soar away,
This inspiring roundelay:
"April flowers Bring May-flowers."*
4
Sunbeams through the rifts are streaming,
Adding to the raindrops gleaming;
Gleaming sun and glistening rain
Each repeat the glad refrain:
"April flowers Bring May-flowers."*

* as printed.

Lyr. Add: APRIL SHOWERS
Buddy De Silva, lyrics and Louis Silvers, words.

Life is not a highway strewn with flowers,
Still it holds a goodly share of bliss,
When the sun gives way to April showers,
Here's a thought that we should never miss:

Though April showers
May come your way,
They bring the flowers
That bloom in May;
And if it's raining,
Have no regrets;
Because it isn't raining rain, you know,
It's raining violets.

And when you see clouds
Upon the hill,
You soon will see crowds
Of daffodils;
So keep on looking for the bluebird,
And listening for his song,
Whenever April showers come along.

Though April showers
May come your way,
They bring the flowers
That bloom in May;
And if it's raining,
Have no regrets;
Because, it isn't raining rain, you know,
It's raining violets.

And when you see clouds
Upon the hill,
You soon will see crowds
Of daffodils;
So keep on looking for the bluebird,
And listening for his song
Whenever April showers come along.

Made famous by Al Jolson.
Sunshine Music, 1921.

Hmmm. If the original copyright on the DeSylva / Silvers song is 1921 (or earlier), I'm wondering it it's PD by now.
