Man defends himself against a lethal assault with a broken guitar...

If he'd had a banjo, both muggers would be dead or near death, and he'd be pretty much uninjured.

Midchuck is right. Nothin' like a drum with a stick to brain someone.

I'm bothered by the passivity of the reporting. No interest in why it happened, how to prevent it in the future, or what to watch out for while on the streets.

I'm certainly glad the poor man survived. Too bad about the guitar, which probably wasn't broken when he set out from home.

I am glad he described this despicable assault by two armed cowards. I hope the police have the right men and that they jug the bastards for a very long time.

I think my Fender Precision Bass, might come in handy in a similiar case. Actually, no pun was intended, but if it was still in the case, so much the better.

I have a habit of buying cheap electric guitars to fix up and modify,
which means all too often I never get round to putting all the bits back together again...

So I can easily lay hands on a variety of strategically positioned solid maple guitar necks
if any skanky junkie burglar ever chances his luck at our house while I'm at home.....

When guitars are banned, only bands will have guitars. Or something like that.

I'll bet the woman was at the root of this. Those birds had a bone to pick with the victim.

Good old second amendment.

Of course Woodie Guthrie used his guitar to defend himself against Fascists!

In Scots law it can be difficult for a paper to report all they know about a crime once somebody has been charged - it might be seen as making a fair trial impossible. In this instance, since they've got two suspects charged already, and with the most serious offence they could have thrown at them, the police are moving very fast.

Muirhouse is a grim housing estate where a lot of bad stuff happens.

A Burns Bison Bass - that would sort 'em out!!

A sad reflection on modern times, I fear...

What lousy bit of typing earlier! I meant to write: "I am glad he survived..." Still, I really did mean it when I wrote that I hope the two bastards, who jumped him, get jugged.

I don't think the reason is important.

I always liked the feel of my Fender strat as a medivial type chopping device. Stopped a few beer bottles too in it's day.
