Drought warnings are looming already due to the severe lack of rain since March, yet it seems, as I recall, that we had an entire winter filled with downpours of rain, it never stopped...and yet here we are, just a few weeks later with water levels rapidly going down. Here's something though - my wife's just rang to tell me that on account of yesterday's unseasonable & untypical sunshine here in the North West a total of 93 people had to be rescued by the coast guard having ventured out onto The Fylde sands only to be cut off by the ever cunning tides. Hardly weird weather, but just shows how little we understand such things these days. Water, water everywhere, and not a drop to drink. Though there are plans afoot to start replenishing our depleted reservoirs by importing huge bergs of polar ice which (it is reckoned) would just melt anyway, so why not put it some use? |

Saturday was warm too although chillier in the shade. But it made us chuckle that 'they' would be talking about hosepipe bans already just because of a few incey wincey days of sunshine. It's hardly 1976 yet but if it does keep up like this it wouldn't surprise me. The rainfall throughout this winter in Bristol hasn't been that excessive compared to the last few previous winters. I only really got very wet once or twice far less than one summer of a couple of years ago. |

Last time we were in Norfolk I nearly conked out with heat-stroke in Wells-next-the-Sea; we use the sunhat we bought that day as a lampshade & souvenir of happy summer sea-side days. |

Then you can get badly sunburnt without realising it! What a good idea to use your sunhat as a lampshade souvenir. Can't wait for the Sheringham Potty Festival (Morris dance) first weekend in July. It's usually sunny and hot! |
