Greetings All,

Check out the new caterers menu and some info about the Grieg Centre which, as some of you know is under threat,.

HERE!

Previous Alcester thread

Tip for Green Man - if you click the word 'trace' at the right-hand side of the thread on the main list, you won't lose your thread again. You'll be able to find it in the list of 'traced' threads on your 'personal age' whenever you're logged in to the Mudcat.

I'm really looking forward to this lovely festival, especially as they've booked me again this year!

Well, there's nothing on the previous thread, which has now fallen off the bottom, apart from GM's original post and mine saying "Thanks for posting GM - a lovely festival in a lovely town, and I'm thrilled that Derek and I are on the guest list this year!"

So I guess we might just as well stick with this thread...?

Thanks GM - we've just had two great weekends at the Banbury Song & Ale fundraiser and at Crediton!

Re the website, you seem to have alternative spelling for the Greig Hall on the link tab... should be the Scottish version, not Norwegian?

Kitty

PS what happens to the memorial for Hannah Greig, currently located in the rotunda, if the hall is pulled down?

Hi,

I think the monument will be moved to a museum somewhere however I don't know that for sure. It could become a very large door stop!

Thanks for poining out the problems with my spelling. I am really glad that someone actually has read the website! :)

Of course we read the website, it's the best festival in June anywhere and with some of best singers in the country. Alan, or Pete who lives behind the Tuns should be able to advise on Morris.

Hi Eveyone, the website is down due to a server failure. Not my fault but a bit of a B*stard as we are in our critical time re ticket sales. Just turn up on the day and we will sel you a ticket.

Sorry for this but itisn't our fault, the 'professionals' at WEB-MANIA seem to have screwed up royally.

All the best and see you there.

Hi Peeps, yes the website is down. The hosting company has had major hardware issues and I am setting up a new host today. Hopefully it will be up soon. I will set up electronic ticket sales this weekend soon otherwise bring cash as we cant accept CC's at the festival site.

I will re post here when theres an update.

Yes its a bit of a bar steward. I have tried and tried to get ahold of them for a definitive time. No joy! Methinks they are going to lose a lot of business.

If you are thinking of using Web-Mania, think again.

I will set up access to the booking form and the website from an alternative URL very shortly.

Probably through Grey-Power.net

Check back and I will post here when done.

So very glad you've got the website sorted out, I've had several friends ask me what's happening!

Any inside information on when and where the MudGather will be? Enquiring minds need to know....

02 Jun 11 - 04:31 AM (#3164074)
Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival
From: Green Man

Ah, the Mudgather, well the awning outside the bar is always a good place because proximity to beer helps. Apart from that I think that we should see how warm it is.

I remember the one year when the Mudgather developed into a really late night session outside the Grieg.

Maybe this year will be the same.. Please wear badges if possible. I haven't heard from Tig lately and I am not sure if Badger is still in the Badge business.

I look forward to seeing you and your nice shiny van, ;)

I got told last night that we have lost the fire station as a venue. Please tell me this information is wrong :-( Where else (other than the Rotunda) can we find such excellent acoustics???

Tig - I fear you heard right!

I've just got home from work to find that Marje has sent me the running order today - and there is (alas!) no column for Fire Station events. The Royal Oak pub seems to be serving as the replacement venue.

It will be a grand weekend anyway!

Think the non availability of the fire station is due to the reorganisation of fire service in this area which has seen some station closures and expanded roles for the remainder.

Looking forward to watching the Fox & cubs, got some in our garden at the moment, not as lively though!

Think the Royal Oak is the one up near the fire station. If so, it's in the bar not a separate room.

Mudgather looks to be Saturday tea-time (traditional), 4.15 start and only on for an hour in the Nursery.

Hi Guys and Gals, this is going to be a very special festival. We have the Royal Oak of course it's next to the concervative club in the 'notch' in the High Street where there is a small car park.

I believe that the new landlords are 'folk virgins' but willing and happy to have us.

I haven't explored the pub but it looks nice from the photographs.

Folkies are resilient, we will adapt, we will improvise, we will overcome! (any difficulties) :)

Anyway looking forward to seeing you all.

I won't be allowed on the camp site though, as I'm in B&B so Ch will be there too. I'll let you know if there are any facilities for drying friends' clothes ;-)
See you soon! xx

Please get it all going in my absence so that I can join in after I get set up on the campsite.

If there's room in the car I may be able to get my electric bike on board so as to make getting round the venues a bit quicker.

A fantastic weekend at Alcester as usual!! Many thanks to Marje and the crew for their stirling work in looking after us all. Here's hoping we'll be OK for next year in the Rotunda!

Very pleased with the Royal Oak, they welcomed us with open arms and it was an excellent concert venue. Apart from having the opportunities to sing, my highpoint had to be Mr Fox, just wonderful!

Thanks to all who came to the Mudgather, ate chocolate, sang and laughed etc. We were a little worried that it was only an hour but it worked well and we didn't have to resort to plan B which was each person only singing a verse & chorus *grin*
