This is short notice I know, but I've only just found out myself. American old-time musican Joe Locker is appearing tonight at the Everyman folk club, in the back room of the Everyman bistro, in Hope Street, Liverpool. He'll be appearing with Rosie Davies. Start time is reputed to be 8-30pm.

I used to enjoy seeing Joe Locker with Tom Paley and Janet Kerr as the New Deal String Band. Some of the best live string band music I've heard.

You can still see Joe Locker with Tom Paley in The New Deal String Band. The fiddle player in the trio now is Tom's son Ben Paley.

Didn't Joe used to play with Jack Elliot prior to Derrol coming to the UK, also with Alex Campbell occasionally (probably others)back in the dear dim days beyond recall?

I do recall Joe playing with Alex Campbell but I didn't know about Jack Elliot.

In addition to NEW DEAL STRING BAND(with Tom + Ben Paley) I play with DAVIS, LOCKER, & WINQUIST (Rosie D. and Bob W.) Bob was with us at Liverpool Everyman (and it was a good night!).
NDSB is at Islington Folk Club May 5th.
D,L & W are at Ringwood Folk Club May 3rd.
I never played with Jack Elliot, but had a regular partnership with Alex Campbell for about 6 months in 1960/61. We started out in the Paris "Contrescarpe" cabaret, then came to Britain a couple of times before I returned to the USA and Alex went solo.
