The music, of course, stellar. Not to be missed, folks! Sorry Ron could not be there! Missed his dynamite guitar playing... And his snarky self. |

19 Apr 11 - 08:34 PM (#3138558) Subject: RE: Bruce Murdoch CD Launch From: Jeri I thought I posted this a while ago, but webweasels ate my post... or my brain. The launch was intimate and fascinating. The concert was amazing, not just because of Bruce, but because of what his songs inspired in skilled musicians, some of which was sheer genius. Every song had that bit of silence at the end that comes from people waiting for the last note to fade. Standing ovation. And Ron, you were missed. |
20 Apr 11 - 11:26 AM (#3138995) Subject: RE: Bruce Murdoch CD Launch From: GUEST,bankley that's good to know, Jeri. I'm glad that I was part of the studio end of the project. My spirit was with y'all... but my body had to stay closer to home. It's great to witness how much Mr.Bruce's music has evolved just over the past 3 or 4 years... since he 'came out' !!! (musically speaking).. I'm proud of him and the fact that we're friends in the truest sense of the word |

In fact, I got to talking about Cold Rain but figured I`d break down if I sang it so I skipped it altogether. Talked about you at the show and the launch. We still have our project to do, and that is something I`m really looking forward to. Luc, Caroline, Pierre, David W, Eric and I felt your absence, and in that process the audience felt your presence. Bet ya didn`t know you were gettin` felt so much on Saturday night. Later. B |

Thanks again, Bruce, for a wonderful experience! |

21 Apr 11 - 09:23 PM (#3140043) Subject: RE: Bruce Murdoch CD Launch From: Jeri Got my CD in the car. I only hope that some of Bruce's friends, including those on Mudcat, have bought the CD. (Not talking about contributors.) Hazards of living in a small world. Most of the folks who like his music are his friends, and making CD's ain't cheap. Lemme see: too early for midwinter holiday presents, but maybe a nice spring renewal/rebirth celebration in a basket with fake grass (the legal stuff), chocolate bunnies, and brightly-colored eggs. For the record, I still think the concert was one of the best I've attended. The sound was so good I didn't even notice it, it just was. I wish I could just teleport back there. |

25 Apr 11 - 08:28 PM (#3142321) Subject: RE: Bruce Murdoch CD Launch From: Bobert Here's the real deal here, folkies... I just got home from 3 grueling days of hauling stuff southward, was going to go straight to bed and then the P-Vine handed me a package from Canada... Hey, sleep will wait... I'm on my 4th song as I write this and this CD is the "killer" I predicted... Brucie's best effort by far and a "must have" CD for anyone you loves exquisitely written, composed and orchestrated haunting ballads from the soul... Brucie is by far the best I have heard of all the Mudcatters... I mean no offense to any one because there are some very, very fine musicians here but he continually sets the bar... Just pure USDA Prime Fact!!! I guess if I have any regrets is was that the song he sent me to record slide on still needs additional work for "prime time"... But it is close to being up to the quality of what is on this CD, just not close enough... I hope he and his people will fix it because it could be a really fine song... BTW, thanks Brucie, for sending the P-Vine and me "I'm at the Mercy of Your Smile" back when we were going thru so darker times... Yeah, we were sworn to secrecy and that's was okay... Now everyone will get the hear one of the purest and beautiful love ballads that has ever been written.... Some absolutely amazing music, Bruce... Love ya, brother... Square business... B~ |

26 Apr 11 - 11:43 AM (#3142703) Subject: RE: Bruce Murdoch CD Launch From: jacqui.c I've just finished listening to the CD. Bruce reckoned it wasn't my kind of music. Boy, was he wrong! I was nearly in tears over 'I Just Seem To Keep On Loving You' and I agree with Bobert about 'I'm At The Mercy Of Your Smile'. 'Amanda' sent shivers down my spine. This one is going on the MP3 player, for certain. |
26 Apr 11 - 12:48 PM (#3142754) Subject: RE: Bruce Murdoch CD Launch From: frogprince "Amanda"...wonder how he happened to come up with that name.... :) I gotta head for a shift at the gallery just now, but I've gotta get in gear and get my order in. |

28 Apr 11 - 10:42 AM (#3144045) Subject: RE: Bruce Murdoch CD Launch From: maeve In planning an order for this very enjoyable cd, I am wondering about the shipping ($2.50 Canadian). If a person were to purchase multiple cds, the shipping cost should increase. Right now I tried putting in an experimental order for 6 cds; the shipping total remained at $2.50. The software should reflect the cost for each album, even if more than one album can be sent for the basic cost.(Maybe 3 cds can be sent for the initial $2.50...however it works out.) If I buy 10 cds. I should see the shipping increase in relationship to the number of items sent. I love this album. Maeve |

28 Apr 11 - 04:16 PM (#3144288) Subject: RE: Bruce Murdoch CD Launch From: GUEST,999 Thank you to all the folks who have posted here. I owe special thanks to most of you, and I`m glad you like at least some of the songs. The one disappointment I have is that time and money made it impossible to add two high tempo up-beat songs. However, I like most of it and love some of the cuts no end. Dan and Mark have worked hard the past few days to get a web page going. My mailing address will be added for tomorrow for folks who dislike internet money transfers, etc. And BOTH e-mail addresses still reach me. The songs are likely too rockish for folk and too folkish for rock, but that ain`t gonna change anytime soon. I got to work with some excellent musicians and really enjoyed myself despite the hard work involved. What I liked most was sending the raw cuts to Bankley, Allatt, Garrett, Larocque, Crilly, Lachance, Whyte, Taylor and Bernard and then getting OUT of their way. I just couldn`t figure out the use in getting people I consider to be the best in the business to work on the CD and then presume to tell them what to do. That`s where some of the magic came from. Eric Bernard was also the engineer, and following the advice of Ron Bankley who drummed into me with MotH that I should 1) never throw anything away 2) sing the way I want Eric and I let a few mistakes go. I`m quite sure people will find them on their own. Anyway, you can reach me at irishancestry at gmail.com or brucemurdochmusic at gmail.com The web page is at www.brucemurdoch.com Please note that the CD is NOT folk music. It never was and doesn`t pretend to be. It`s the first CD I have produced, but it would NOT have been possible without my good friend Ron Bankley`s advice or Eric Bernard`s guidance from time to time. Thank you. Bruce |

29 Apr 11 - 09:28 AM (#3144686) Subject: RE: Bruce Murdoch CD Launch From: GUEST,bankley Bruce, early on, and probably still, I was often accused of being too rocky for folk, too jazzy for country, too country for blues.. on and on.. but in my young mind (at the time, and still) I knew that I must be doing something right.. it's all music and poetry anyway, and it takes a lot of 'flying time'to get good in any one genre, and lots of guts to do it the way you want... John Hammond Sr. found that out about you in the 60's...heh,heh (a good story) Anyway just to say that I'm proud of your effort in this.. bet you didn't realize quite how much was involved at the outset!.. folks will have their favorite songs and others that they don't like so much.. we all do, but the great thing is , at least they'll have a current recording of your work and have the choice to make their own judgments.. I'm sure the jury will be kind to you... and here's to all the independent artists who are producing quality 'expression'.. ps. I have some interesting ideas about the duo project.. we'll talk, luv ya.... Ron |
