17 Apr 11 - 04:05 AM (#3136717) Subject: I've Forgotten More- response song From: Ebbie An old country song came out of the blue today that I hadn't thought of in yay many years- I've Forgotten More than You'll Ever Know (about him). It was recorded by the Davis Sisters or maybe jsst Skeeter Davis with harmony, and I remember it very well. I always liked the song and its treatment but I got to wondering about the song someone wrote and recorded in response to it. I never liked it as well as I did the older song but I don't remember why. I don't remember how it goes but its theme is 'I've found out more than you ever knew about him' - not sure if it's those actual words, though. I remember a line about 'you're only blinded by cold jealousy' or something like that. I've googled several phrases but nothing came up; I checked with Cowpie too but without a title or artist there's not much to go on. Does any Mudcatter remember that song? |

I'll have to hunt it up. The song I am really after is the response to that song that somone else recorded some time after. It was from a woman's point of view and was refuting the premise of the first writer, that far from not knowing as much about her man she knew him better. |

I didn't have any luck when I looked but Gene is exceedingly good at coming up with stuff like this..so I asked him. (thanks, Gene!) This question led me across a bunch of stuff I haven't heard in years and now I've even heard the answer song..gosh, who could ask for more?! |
