My preference is for traditional song and music, good beer, good atmosphere, good sessions, excellent site. Shrewsbury ticks all those boxes for me. The only negatives (and I'm being very picky here) are that the festival has grown a bit too large for my liking - but that's just me being elitist! Whenever we've been to Shrewsbury we've rarely left the festival site, everything you need is there. It's difficult to suggest ways of making the most of such a good festival. We highlight the artists and sessions we want to go to, making a 'timeline' of our favourite artists from the programme. That way we can quickly see what we might be missing. It's worthwhile getting familiar with the site layout - it's a big site with lots of venues. I'm sure others will come up with more useful advice. See you in August.....I'll be the one singing, drinking, playing and having a great time! John |

Marquee 2 is more intimate. there are folk club type venues and an open mike Marquee. There is also a large dance Marquee. Lots going on. There was a great workshop in the beer tent last year. |
