Shrewsbury's an excellent festival. My preference is for traditional song and music, good beer, good atmosphere, good sessions, excellent site. Shrewsbury ticks all those boxes for me.

The only negatives (and I'm being very picky here) are that the festival has grown a bit too large for my liking - but that's just me being elitist!

Whenever we've been to Shrewsbury we've rarely left the festival site, everything you need is there.

It's difficult to suggest ways of making the most of such a good festival. We highlight the artists and sessions we want to go to, making a 'timeline' of our favourite artists from the programme. That way we can quickly see what we might be missing. It's worthwhile getting familiar with the site layout - it's a big site with lots of venues.

I'm sure others will come up with more useful advice.

See you in August.....I'll be the one singing, drinking, playing and having a great time!

John

A great Fest. Marquee 1 is huge supplied with large screens. Marquee 2 is more intimate. there are folk club type venues and an open mike Marquee. There is also a large dance Marquee. Lots going on. There was a great workshop in the beer tent last year.

Meself & t'Gloom Band have been successful in gaining setup duties rather than stewarding this year, so, if any stamina left after our marathon works, should be able to get to/ initiate tuney & singy seshes throughout the festival - yippppppeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!1

Easily one of the best of it's kind: loads of individuals and bands playing mostly traditional music & song with vast collections instruments.

For those who don't have season tickets and wish to visit Shrewsbury for the day, will there be pub sessions in the town?

There are various pub concerts detailed in the programme (I think you can buy a copy for the Tourist Office) Not sure about sessions though.

Hi folks, will be heading to Shrewsbury for the festival this weekend (for about the 10th time in a row, including Bridgnorths) and having evangelised the place to a couple of friends I find myself in need of one more weekend ticket.

I guess it's a long shot, but does anyone have a spare they can't use? If so you would earn my eternal gratitude (and of course a fair price) - and you won't have to hear me singing!

Vince
