I was born in Holles Street, raised in Little Rock Road
Marched along the convent wall 'till was twelve years old
Did my time in De La Salle til London came to call
Headed out for HoIyhead beyond the old North Wall
Two brothers and one sister were all I left behind
Five others went a wandering their futures for to find
Four flew south on silver wing, the wild one to the west
I ended up in Melbourne, the last to leave the nest

Home is where you make it, that's what I believe
I never longed to see the Holy Ground
Some are born to travel, some born to stay behind
I was born in dear old Dublin Town
I was born in dear old Dublin Town

Now I work on Hoddle Street, twelve thousand miles away
My neighbours talk like Neighbours on your TV every day
No beggars on the bridges in the town I've come to know
No needle pointing skywards outside the GPO

Home is where you make it. that's what I believe
Some are born to stay behind and some are born to leave
Today I walk the streets at Joyce
Tomorrow foreign bound
I was born in dear old Dublin Town
I was born in dear old Dublin Town

There you go Swaleman, it's called "The Streets of Joyce" and its on an album called "Here and There" released in 2005. The references are to places from his childhood in Ballyfermot in Dublin. Little Rock Road is CloigĂn Road where his family lived.

(Not called "Home is where the heart is", then, so I changed the subject line. The writer is also not Ireland's newly elected Prime Minister. Just to clear things up.)
