BS: What a way to spend a holiday...

Working! Well, not in the strictest sense. I was in work on Friday and am currently waiting for an engineer to phone me saying he has updated the firmware on my host servers. Once that has done I need to restart the hosts and the 40-odd virtual machines and hope they all come up OK for tomorrow :-(

On the plus side, I can do it all from my sunny front bedroom and I have all of next week off :-)

Just bored at the moment!

Spending day with family. Brother home from Italy haven't seen him in a while, so looking forward to it.

Shoot - Engineer just texted to say a piece of kit just ain't playing and he will be at least another hour! Hope it doesn't mean the kit is dead or next weeks holiday may be affected:-(

Ah well, bit of a waste realy. The firmware took an age to load because of a hardware problem. That was fixed and the firmware was, eventualy, upgraded. The newly patched VM hosts started up fine but then the VMs wouldn't :-( I restored the hosts to their pre-patched state and the VMs (apart from one) came up OK. Buggered if I am going to start patching again now and run into the situation where we have not got the servers up by start of business tomorow! Yes - we do work back holidays.

One good thing - The holiday can start now:-) Well, after I have mailed the team. Hello, bottle of Spanish Rose, here I come...

That's the stuff, Gnu. You have to upgrade it or your hard ones turn floppy...

:D

I assume one would not want any floppy dics in their BVDs.

Of course, I am not really up on mod terminology. It was only a wild stab in the dirk.

Good gnuess though gnu - Pretty spot on apart from it is DVBs, not BVDs. And the last thing I want to do is poke some bits to see if they byte...

Is computer speak derived from Sanskrit ? Unlike Gnu, I will admit I have no idea what is discussed here.

Quiet weekend here. Snow mostly melted. Will eat fried chicken from the oven of our nearby supermarket. I made biscuits, mixing masa (corn flour) with flour. Crunchy rather than soft, dense but taste good.
We have a 5-pound bag of masa, mostly used for making tortillas, but our supermarket tortillas and wraps are good and making them is hard work unless one has the machine.

It's somewhere between hardware and software, Kat. Nothing to get excited about I'm afraid :-)

It's a bit vague and difficult to 'grab onto' ..kinda like 'firmament'...
