BS: Happy Wiener Dog Thursday

OK so I made it up, there should be a day ... but noooo nobody ever made one. Well I tell you ... Wiener dogs are special, every house should have one or two or three or twelve.. there should be an international wiener dog holiday. But since the powers to be have carelessly thought to ignore such a significant event as wiener dog celebration day, I will make one myself.

I say again my friends, Happy Wiener Dog celebration day (Thursday) May 5th

Thank you olddude and Gnu, I see that they're Dachshunds! (Or sausage dogs as my father used to call them) The Queen has one, and when it mated on the QT with one of her corgis, the offspring was called a 'dorgie'!

Not to be confused with a teeny weeny dog.

My theory about the Dachshund (badger hound) is that it was originally a fairly normal looking dog known as a Dachhund (roof dog) till it fell off the roof, legs first......

Yeah!!! I've been agitating for the establishment of such a holiday for years now. Wiener Dogs are the greatest! The word "wiener", by the way, originally meant "a citizen of Vienna", but it has entered English usage referring to a sausage or "hot dog".

Wiener dogs are charming, personable, affectionate, stubborn, and willful. They all have very memorable personalities and will brighten your life with their presence.

The breeds of the only two dogs who ever bit me were: dachshund and Doberman pinscher.

Maybe I just need to stay away from dogs with German names.

I brought the hairy one back from Wisconsin. My friends bought her for me. Well I took her on the airplane in a little soft sided cage. She was an angel. The mean airplane lady said, "that dog needs to go under the seat" So I put her under the seat. A little later she started to wimper so I took her out and shoved her under my shirt and coat. She fell asleep was just fine, not a sound ... then ... We landed in Chicago. When we hit the ground she pissed from my belly down my pants all the way to my leg ... yeee gads .. I was covered in it all the way to Buffalo ...

LOL

Feeling a little puckish, tonight!

Most of the world, asking questions is not slanderous. Thats why the press does it so often.

Need more wiener dogs?
Thomas Edison 'built' a "Patent Dog Transformator." It wound convert several breeds of dogs, including Dachshunds, into sausage links. These could then be fed back into the Transformator for conversion into the dog desired by a customer.

Enter Dog Factory (or Patent Dog Transformator) into American Memory for the full story.

(Actually an early comedy from Thomas A. Edison Inc.)

My father used to recite "Little dog
                         Crossing street,
                         Motor car,
                         Sausage meat" (which I hated.)

(But I DID like:- "Barber shop,
                     Big sneeze,
                     Razor slips,
                   "Next please!")
