15 May 11 - 09:22 AM (#3154427) Subject: RE: 'Songs lost and stolen'-- Bella Hardy From: Johnny J I was having a wee joke as some people here may recall another recent thread and subsequent stooshie. :-) Anyway, re this album:- It's full of very well crafted songs. Singer songwriting is not always my favourite genre but Bella does have traditional roots and they're very much to the fore here. A good grounding is always a great advantage, I feel. The musical arrangements are excellent and her collaborators here read like a "Who's who" of the great young musicians of today, eg Anna Massie, Kris Drever, Corrina Hewat, Chris Sherbourne and many more. I fully realise that not everyone will share my opinion but I reckon that this is a beautiful album from start to finish. "The Herring Girl" is destined to become a classic. |
