18 May 11 - 08:41 PM (#3156716) Subject: RE: Chord Req: The King's Shilling From: EllenV I thought it was traditional, too... could be wrong. |
18 May 11 - 09:27 PM (#3156725) Subject: RE: Chord Req: The King's Shilling From: Effsee Definitely an Ian Sinclair song, as stated, sung by his wife Margie! No question. Certain Irish singers have been informed of this fact! |
19 May 11 - 07:59 PM (#3157273) Subject: RE: Chord Req: The King's Shilling From: Tattie Bogle IMHO it does not need accompaniment, the sang's the thing! Most singarounds I've heard it, it has been sung a cappella. Not the only song - or tune -by far that has been passed off as trad, when the composer is known. |

08 Mar 18 - 06:11 PM (#3910109) Subject: RE: Chord Req: The King's Shilling From: Gallus Moll ----everyone should really try to hear the Mirk original, with the composer Iain on fiddle and Margie's wonderful voice singing - -- - |
08 Mar 18 - 07:34 PM (#3910119) Subject: RE: Chord Req: The King's Shilling From: Tattie Bogle Yes, it has a very specific rhythm, and many people who have covered it have changed it in various ways. I prefer the original. |
