20 May 11 - 01:49 PM (#3157680) Subject: BS: Last Oprah TV show From: gnu 25 years. Last show today coming on soon. Her fav guest over the years... top secret. Who will it be? Constant adverts and hype enough to make ya sick eh. I don't give a rat's ass. She has done a lot of good in many ways but the guest bullying and man-bashing turned me off long ago. I used to watch her show sometimes when I was married... >;-) I wonder how much advert slots are going for... as if she needs any more coin. I wonder if she will run for Pres? NNWW! |

23 May 11 - 11:08 AM (#3159181) Subject: RE: BS: Last (not quite, yet) Oprah TV show From: Becca72 I think her last show is 5/25. I HOPE her last show is 5/25. I personally cannot stand the woman and I'm sick to death of hearing about her final show. Just get it over with already! She's not dying; she's not retiring. She's bought her own network and is moving on to other things. Enough already! |

23 May 11 - 11:53 AM (#3159202) Subject: RE: BS: Last (not quite, yet) Oprah TV show From: Ebbie Hmmmmm. All these people who just can't stand her - and yet, know all about her. I, on the other hand, quite admire her - and I rarely hear about her (I currently do not have a TV). So, what's up with that? |

23 May 11 - 12:11 PM (#3159215) Subject: RE: BS: Last (not quite, yet) Oprah TV show From: Becca72 The only reason I know as much as I do is because her commercials are on every 10 seconds. |

23 May 11 - 01:52 PM (#3159251) Subject: RE: BS: Last (not quite, yet) Oprah TV show From: gnu Ebbie. She is to be admired for all the good she has done (and she has done a LOT!), and admonished for all the bullying and sensationalizing for $$$ as a lot of her guests had to take a lot of bullshit to get the cheque. If ya walk off before she is done taping and ya don't get paid. Of course, some of the bullied were simply not able to defend themselves for various reasons... inarticulate, nervous, intimidated, whatever. Overall, I assume she did far more good than "bad". Now, if she would only run for President. |

24 May 11 - 11:06 AM (#3159745) Subject: RE: BS: Last (not quite, yet) Oprah TV show From: katlaughing I am glad to hear you believe she has done some good, too, gnu. This thread was bothering me as it seemed to be started just for people to slag off on her. I have never watched her that much, but I think she deserves respect and best wishes for all the good she has done, esp. for women and young girls. She has inspired them to believe in themselves and given them courage to pursue their dreams. She broke boundaries in her climb to such success. She has been an "uppity" woman and that is something to be proud of, imo. My 2 cents worth, kat |

25 May 11 - 10:22 PM (#3160623) Subject: RE: BS: Last (not quite, yet) Oprah TV show From: gnu I watched the last few shows. The last show was quite a show... a great woman indeed with tremendous insight and wisdom, no matter what I said above (which I stand by because I saw those shows that disturbed and upset me). |

26 May 11 - 01:15 AM (#3160653) Subject: RE: BS: Last (not quite, yet) Oprah TV show From: Donuel I have never seen a single Oprah show. I have seen the great stars the show spun off like Dr. Phil -ugh! and Suzie Orman GAGH! I did see the outtake of Oprah telling an audience to look under thier seats to discover car keys for free cars that were along the lines of a Ford Focus. Oprah as an actress and activist is the only side of her I know. I have heard more than once that she has the money and clout that strikes fear into the hearts of many peope in the business. The rumors of her ruthless side does go hand in hand with fortune builders. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Grocery store tabloids have made a fortune off of her as well. With only a cursory knowledge of the lady I would have to say she has certainly done more good than harm. All that being said, not caring a rat's ass is harsh, not caring a gnat's ass is too pity, but not caring a bat's ass stinks to high heaven. |

26 May 11 - 05:27 AM (#3160694) Subject: RE: BS: Last (not quite, yet) Oprah TV show From: GUEST,Patsy Has it been that long? I did watch her in the early days and I found her shows to be good and interesting then but in the UK we have had similar chat show hosts spring up which for the most part make up day time viewing. Thankfully, unless I am off sick I don't get to see them! |

26 May 11 - 08:17 PM (#3161099) Subject: RE: BS: Last (not quite, yet) Oprah TV show From: Little Hawk I've never seen a single Oprah show either. I can't think of any particular reason why I should dislike her, though. She seems to be a very smart and capable woman and she has done a lot for one life. My main acquaintance with Oprah is always seeing her on various magazine covers at the grocery store checkout. ;-) |

27 May 11 - 12:46 AM (#3161171) Subject: RE: BS: Last (not quite, yet) Oprah TV show From: J-boy She has done much good to be sure. If I had a billion dollars I could do a lot of good. As would most mudcatters. But some people want to elevate her to sainthood and that disturbs me. |

She should at least get a pat on the back for what she's done. Why on earth people would want to run her down is beyond me. She came from nothing and was a huge success and brought a lot of people along with her. And folks who don't like her style should look for the "off" button on their TV's. |

People need a target for their pent-up frustration, after all...and if you're famous, then you're it. ;-) |
