I don't know what happened to the sessions that used to be at the Blue Bell in Halkyn (possibly a bit far as well). I see it has Jazz on the Sunday. sian |

24 May 11 - 11:41 AM (#3159770) Subject: RE: Session near Oswestry? From: GUEST,Chris P Well, it's a thought, but nearly an hour away, and wouldn't I have to buy a £14 ticket to go to an evening tune session ? |

24 May 11 - 05:08 PM (#3159950) Subject: RE: Session near Oswestry? From: Marilyn Chester Folk Festival. The sessions are free so, no, you wouldn't have to buy a ticket unless you wanted to go into the concert or folk club or ceilidh. There will be a session tent (one of the two beer tents but who's counting) as well as sessions at the Farmer's Arms pub and I don't know where else. Presumably someone in the office would know what's going on if you asked. We are much more likely to be at the ceilidhs than sessions in the evenings but will no doubt be sessioning a lot during the day between workshops and so on. In previous years it has always been possible to find at least 3 or 4 sessions going on at any one time (and often many more) so I do think you would be certain to find something. It is quite a long way to travel, I'll grant you, but Chester is a great festival so probably worth the journey. |

25 May 11 - 06:37 AM (#3160230) Subject: RE: Session near Oswestry? From: Mo the caller That reminds me. If you were planning to go to a 'strange' session this weekend you might do well to check that it's still on. We usually go to Wrenbury on the 'last friday' but it's been cancelled since everybody will be at the Chester festival or the Audlem weekend (I don't think that is specifically folky). |

25 May 11 - 06:42 AM (#3160233) Subject: RE: Session near Oswestry? From: Mo the caller Audlem festival There is usually a good mixed song and tune session at the Shroppie Fly in Audlem on a Monday. I think it may have moved pubs because of the festival, but it will be on, somewhere. I'll try to find out. |

25 May 11 - 08:41 AM (#3160289) Subject: RE: Session near Oswestry? From: Mo the caller Right, I've been researching. Audlem is 28 miles, 45 minutes from Oswestry (according to Google maps. The Monday session is early - 5 -9pm, because of a festival act at the pub later |
