Guest, L. King- Look at the box at the top right of this page. There is a search box called, "Lyrics and Knowledge Search" with which you can select DT and/or Forum as well as a search for "DT Lyrics", organized in alphabetical order.

Alternatively, look at the "Quick Links" menu at the top to find several Digital Tradition options.

Let us know if you have any further trouble.

GuestL, don't only look in the DT for songs. Some have been discussed in the forum and are not (yet?) in there, but the words are in the threads. The problem is that the thread header is not necessarily the song title.....

It could be that L. King is looking for the (apparently defunct) "Yet Another Digital Tradition" Website, a Digital Tradition mirror which often shows up on searches instead of Mudcat. Mudcat is the official home of the Digital Tradition, but there are mirrors that do a service by providing notation and tablature for our Digital Tradition melodies.

8notes.com is one that displays notation for our melodies. 8notes gets the lyrics and MIDI files from Mudcat, and then displays the songs as musical notation. Recently, Mudcat owner Max Spiegel started displaying the musical notation from 8notes.com

Apologies if my knowledge of Mudcat-lore is lacking (I did search for an answer), but I'm wondering why the latest edition of DT available for download is from 2002?

I'm assuming the database has expanded since then - are the additions not available for download or am I simply missing something?

The other sites simply copy them from the Mudcat DT. As Dick Greenhaus is fond of saying, "The DT is copy-lefted" It is free,open and available. The whole point was to make the songs available, and we 'think' that all songs with known authors have permission to be there. A few have been removed by request over the years.

It's a work in progress...slow, because a)I'm busy with other things, an b)I'm lousy programmer. To see a sample of what's been happening, check out http://www.ceimd.net/dt/index.php
There's about 10,00 songs, and th tune can be displayed in ABC format(there's lots of good ABC player programs available.)

I'm working on it, slowly. My copy is up to 10,800 songs. We are aiming for 11,000 for the next edition. I just cleared out a bunch of duplicates. I just have to finish putting it together. Of course I let Dick worry about tune formats...

Wow, nice work! Thanks for the info Dick/Susan.

For the record I'm not such a lousy programmer, but I am also a busy one at the moment. Nevertheless I'm keen on the DT project and if there's anything small I could help out with (even just to bounce ideas and questions off) I'd be more than happy to lend a hand.
