I have an account but it is overdue for renewal. Use it for business purposes.

Use it all the time. Brothers and sisters scattered all over Canada. Friends in Florida as well as California. Niece in Peru and one in Prague. Just love it. I am now spending more time on Skype than I do on Mudcat.
Maybe that is not a good thing to say. He! he!

I have sort of installed it on one computer, but have been too busy to sort it out and get rolling...maybe in about 3 weeks.

Constantly online for me. I work on projects all over the world and skypephone is just so much cheaper to use than standard phone calls. Hour long conferemce call to USA is only a few pence any time of day.

Relatively new to it (never had a webcam) but use it whenever I can, it is very easy. Don't know why anyone wouldn't use it.

Skype is the best friend a parent has to speak with a child (well he still is to us even if he is over 40) nine time zones earlier than the sunset coast. I hope Google or Microsoft--or whoever is buying Skype--doesn't mess it up.

For those of you unfamiliar with Skype, the service is free, computer to computer, and very low cost to a land line. You would think you're calling the house next door, it's that clear.

It may have crashed at 8:49AM somewhere, but it was working fine at 6:50 AM PDT. Spoke to The Netherlands for neigh on to 2 hours until just a couple of minutes ago. And it was for free!

I use it every day for work and we even have Board meetings using it. It is a real blessing for small organizations which cover a lot of geography. I also use it to phone mum in Canada; as they say above, it's considerably cheaper than using the phone system for the whole distance.

My only problem is that my main work computer is a Toshiba Satellite Pro running Vista (which can't be changed) and I have yet to run Skype for more than a few days before it crashes. I have to use it on an old laptop - which is a pain.

We set it up when my daughter was living in Singapore (2006-07) . we also have friends and relatives in Switzerland, france, Canada and Australia, so it's useful for all of those too.
We only used the webcam occasionally, as it did seem to slow things down and lead to a stuttery/broken up sound, but things seem to have improved since we first started using it. Also the time delay thing seems to have improved in recent years.

Just in case you have a Skype Crash which is a known issue with Skype, then this is the solution.

I am. (hi Bill)

Our Diocese uses it and would love more leaders to use it. Hardi got me the webcam for Christmas so I could connect with Californy Fam. I plan also to use it to work out with DIL in OH.

And I will use it for Diocesan business as well.

My mom is a bodger from WAY back-- it's in her DNA. She's quite old and having serious health/home care issues, so to give Sis a break I'll Skype with mom in rooms where I've done a lot of bodging she will enjoy "reviewing."

I decided right off that one Skype boundary for me will be that the laptop and webcam will Skype from rooms other than my home office. Business and personal "travel" will still be TRAVEL, at least around this ole property wherever there is good wifi and maybe occasionally from community hotspots. I want more OUT, not more isolation in puder chairs!

OH! Hi, Susan... yeah, I just 3 days ago got webcam installed. Have not actually talked to anyone on Skype yet.

(and I have a sort of home network, and Skype in only on the downstairs one so far... which I use in the evenings mostly.)
I am usually a couple years behind on ALL technologies.

"I want more OUT, not more isolation in puder chairs!"

well, Spring is upon us...lots of 'out' available.

I don't bother with Skype, I use Google+. The hangout works very easily with the web cam.

Skye has never crashed for me. Still love it and have gathered more friends on it. However, I want to tell folks in the United States and Canada that they can join G-mail and call for free all over Canada and the U.S.
No lie, I cut my phone bill in half. I will do even better this month because I wasn't really serious about it before. But the good lady (wife) told me this morning that our phone bill was reduced by 50%.
I don't even use G-mail. I just signed up to it
