This Monday, 6 June, Herga Folk & Acoustic hosts the humorously perceptive, the bitingly witty, the unmasker of wrongs and the punisher of egos - JEREMY TAYLOR, the Englishman that wrote the unofficial South African anthem.

We start promptly as always at 8pm, at the Pinner Green Social Club, Rickmansworth Road, Pinner, Middlesex HA5 3TJ. That's near London, in case you are confused.

So, come all you Jobsworths, don't be Prawns In The Game, come and join us - or it will be too late to say "Ag pleez Deddy"...

It will be A Night To Remember. But not All Along The South Coast, just on our own Piece Of Ground in Pinner.

A pity it's so far away - he's one of the people that got me into songwriting.

Me too. But way before that his songs became part of my development. Then I started singing them in clubs as a floorsinger. Then in the 80s and early 90s they became part of my son's and daughter's development. And when my son went to Australia to teach, he used the same songs to sing to the kids in his class, and to his own kids. Jeremy has fed images and a sense of right and wrong dressed with humour to at least three generations.

He was one of the first professional performers to compliment me on my songwriting, which is still a huge source of delight to me. That was way back when I was at the university folk club .... of course I was a child prodigy ....

Jeremy Taylor was one of the first guests I heard at Herga.... circa 1967 or 68, I think... and I'll be there to hear him tonight!
