I am racking my brains over identifying a song and am driving myself nuts so hope someone can put me out of my misery here. I think it's a scots folksong - possibly recorded by the Corries at some point? - and it's about a woman waiting for her husband to return and refusing to marry again. If memory serves me the 'singer/voice' is the one who wants her to marry him and who asks her why she stands and weeps at the shore (of a lake or the sea?). I'm sorry it's horribly vague but if anyone has any ideas or clues I'd appreciate it. Thanks Fi

However, and this is a pure guess, I'm wondering if it could be the Bleacher Lass of Kelvinhaugh. From: Helen Hi Fianna, The tune of Jock O Hazeldean is a haunting one, too, so I'm not surprised you have had an "earworm", i.e. a song in your head which won't go away and drives you nuts, especially in this case, because you couldn't identify it. Welcome to Mudcat, and I hope you come back and meet all the nice, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful Mud-folks. It's easy to join up, and there are no hidden traps to joining, it just allows you to post more easily, and use the facilities.
