I've posted this on behalf of Bizzie Lizzie, who's presently got two handfuls of broken fingers following a riding accident [easy as falling off a horse!!] - which will have considerably slowed down her typing speeds.

I think MrH has just done a copy and paste from the Easter thread. Camping on the field is available from the last Thursday in July to the following Tuesday.

Bad news about camping, the hotel management are now saying they want to charge £8/night or £20 for all four nights.

Now throws doubt if me & acolytes will still attend.

I've contacted the event organiser to put it to hotel that others may also be put off going.

Will keep y'all posted with any developments.

Afraid there's been no movement on the camping charges.

It remains £8 per night or £20 for all weekend.

Meself & the Gloom Band are not going & we're off to Warwick FF instead

Mr Happy: Understand why camping charge would put you off, especially if it were cheaper/free in previous years.

However, £20 for a weekend camping isn't too bad for a weekend away IMHO, but it would be useful to know if that were per unit (caravan, camper or tent) or per person.

Hope it doesn't put too many people off, this sounds like a great weekend, just wish we were nearer! Have a good one!!

A bit quite so the management shot oitself in the foot, especuially with prices, two coffees (instant) £4!

I guess this will have implications for the Easter weekend.

If it doesn't happen because of camping fees they will lose a chunk of revinue

Seayaker,

No, that's not the case.

A month or so ago, when I first heard about the camp charges for the Aug event, I was concerned & made enquiries of the organiser.

I had a response from the hotel management which clarified the situation, in that they incurred high outgoings for band fees, field hire from the farmer, & organiser's fees + accommodation and therefore had to impose the camp charge to offset these outgoings.

However, I've been assured by them that as my Easter gathering doesn't involve any extra expense to them of the kind mentioned above, other than an amount to the farmer for use of the camp field, they'll welcome the Easter event taking place there next year under the same conditions as before.

i.e. Free camping & free butties/ snacks for evening sessions.

I'll be starting organising it from around February, so look out for it - tell your friends!!

It didn't warrant such fees and it certainly wasn't a 'music festival' as billed. Not 'folk festival' on the posters by the way
