Ok, now, How about any chords to Cosy Sheridan songs, from One sure Thing album. campfire has graciously sent me her book for the Flyer Album from Nancy Griffith. I have searched and searched form Cosy's songs, but nothing, which I Kind of expected since she's not as well known as Nanci. So, If anyone has any of Cosy's CD's, and is really good at figuring out chords, please post them for campfire. She's good people!!!!!

Hummingbird.

I don't know chords, 'cause I don't play 'em.

Cosy has a website here, and a "contact" button. Campfire might want to try asking her directly. I haven't seen her for quite a while, but she used to live around here and she was always very warm and friendly - I doubt she's changed in that respect.

She lives in Moab, Utah where she located from the northeast. I have to work real hard to sit down and figure out the chords. Wish I could help but I'm about ten songs behind in figuring out chords I don't have down yet.
SOmeone should be along and help out. One thing you might try is using a chromatic tuner and finding an occassional chord which might steer you in the right direction. Good luck.

Hummingbird,

It has been several since I last watched Cosy play, but my memory tells me that she uses different tunings quite frequently. She uses a modified capo to quickly change into some (like "drop D" tuning). This may help you to figure out what is going on. Cosy is a joy in concert.

Good luck with the arrangements.

Hi everyone -

Hummingbird - Thanks for the thread, but I've already got the website, etc. I'll be seeing Cosy in concert next month - maybe I will just ask her- or watch REAL CLOSE ;). I've seen her a few times before and yes, she is incredible in concert and yes, she was very personable and easy to talk to, also. I just wasn't thinking of chords at that time.

Thanks again for trying, everyone.

Hi, Boy, it's been a long time since I've been here. So much has happened. We'll talk about that stuff another time. Anyway, I'm looking for chords to any of Cosy Sheridans songs, specifically from her album One Sure Thing. Can anyone help. I'd really appreciate it.

Hi, Hummingbird - You can find lyrics to all but one of Cosy's CD's at http://www.cosysheridan.com. Seems like lots of performers have made their name into one word and used it as their URL - it's so common, that I think it should be the first place to look for lyrics for a songwriter. Maybe somebody here can help you with chords, if you tell us specifically which songs you're looking for.

I went to a Cosy Sheridan - Chuck Brodsky concert once, about five years ago. My date and I were the entire audience, plus three people who were staff at the venue. I really felt bad for them. Their songs were OK, but I prefer traditional music.

Hey, Hummingbird, Welcome Back!

So you've "graduated" from Nanci Griffith to Cosy?

I've seen Cosy many times - she's one of my favorite singer/songwriters. She uses a lot of different tunings and several capos (often three at the same time), so figuring her stuff out by ear is difficult (for me, anyway). I've never found a website that gives chords or tabs or anything, but I have any lyrics you don't.

If you ever go see her perform, she'd likely be happy to show you how to play a particular song if you asked her afterward. She tried to show me, but when she got to the third capo, we both knew she'd lost me. ;)

If you ask for some specific songs I can help you. Her bass player is also my bass player and one of my best friends. If he don't know the chords she's in trouble.

David.

Hey, that must be TR Ritchie, quite a fine singer/songwriter himself!

I discovered her through the Waterbug Music sampler CDs. I like the style of music (as well as trad), and I like the things of hers that I've heard. I just have a little trouble understanding her lyrics (the words, not the meaning!)--maybe that website will help. I've been very impressed with the caliber of the musicians Andrew and Kat brought together for the Waterbug label, and I suggest that any 'Catters whose tastes sometimes run to "contemporary singer-songwriter" might do well to check them out.

Aloha,
Mark
