Just an excuse to put this back in front of you all, from the depths of the Cambridgeshire fens, Pagan Molly, with their unique spin on songs local to them, have been added to the brilliant lineup for the Bury St Edmunds OXJAM Folk Day.

More info here: Bury St Edmunds OXJAM Folk Day

Tickets available here: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/124231

Or if you happen to be in the Bury St Edmunds area, from either of the Oxfam shops in town, just £10.00 for the day, with every penny raised going to Oxfam.

Just back from the Ely Folk Festival which was its usual friendly chilled earthy folk experience.
Will certainly be at the Oxjam Folk Day.

Two more great acts added to the line up for the Bury St Edmunds OXJAM Folk Day Flaming June, from the Newmarket area, modern folk, with passionate vocals, super fiddle and clarinet/whistles, and Andy Stone, a fine singer and guitarist performing a mix of traditional and his own songs, coming all the way from Dorset just for us!

Brilliant line up also includes mudcat's own Wadden Pete (Pete Twitchet, and Seaking (Chris King)

I stand corrected, with apologies to Chris, Works offshore, but does live in Felixstowe, so I did get that bit right, and the bit about him being an excellent singer and guitarist.

And he's well worth coming to see at The Bury St Edmunds Oxjam Folk Day, as are all the other super artists involved. It's only two days away now, so if you are in the area, come along, only £10.00 for the day, with every penny raised going for the work of Oxfam.

Last minute change to the line up, owing to illness, Cottonhouse will not now be appearing, but we are delighted to say that the lovely Marina Florance has at very short notice, filled the gap.

Should be a great day, if you are in the Bury St Edmunds area, come and see us.

Just £10.00 to get in, with every penny raised going to Oxfam

Is all of the money going in the right direction? The managers of the Oxfam shops are paid a salary, and the shops pay a very small amount in business rates. How much in the pound actually gets to where it's supposed to be going?

Speedwell..thanks for the comments. It was a lovely day and was a pleasure as always to sing with Alie.

I won't steal John's thunder but I hear the day was very successful -certainly in terms of everyone's enjoyment but also in amount of money raised.

A great effort from everyone involved and a real nice day out !

OK Folks, here's the news you've all been waiting for, the final total donated to OXFAM from the Bury St Edmunds Oxjam Folk Day was a staggering £1823.51
I feel very humbled by the generousity of all those lovely people who performed, helped with setting up and clearing up, worked on the day feeding the artists, serving beer, teas and coffees, doing the sound etc etc. And of course everyone that attended and enjoyed the day. BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!

I've just heard there's another Oxjam Festival at Bury St Edmunds next October, and Jody Kruskal is coming to play and run a workshop on 13th and 14th.

My informant (on behalf of Jody in NY) was hoping to get some publicity in Mardles magazine, but is just too late (I might be able to squash in a line or two in the event listings)

If it happens again next year, do let me know earlier in June (editor@suffolkfolk.co.uk) and I could give it some more publicity.
I can't find a web site or any information for this year's Oxjam though - it's a well kept secret!
