BS: Should I Sell My Springsteen Posters???

Okay, here's the deal...

Since our move to NC we have had to replace 4 major kitchen appliances, have had to spend more on fixing stuff in the house and have gotten purdy close to the amount in savings that we swore we wouldn't go under...

Problem is that a lot of it has gone into gardening stuff (loads of this and that + hiring a couple kids 12 hours a week to dig and plant) and I thought I'd have enough for a 12 foot john boat and trolling motor so I could go fishin'...

But no...

So, a couple nights ago I was bored and Googled up Springsteen Posters" and found that the three I have from my days of promoting Bruce are quite valuable... Now my thinking, which may be wrong, is that seeing as Baby Boomers are the ones with the $$$ and want these 60's posters that this might be the best time to sell them???

I donno???

I mean, one alone might bring $5000... That's serious jack... BTW, its the "Child, Sept. 19-20" poster at "The Center" (for the performing arts) in Richmond... I think we did 100 of them and I have a purdy decent one... I really have plenty of good original art so I don't really need them but...

Opinions???

Sell, before Bruce move to Vegas, gains weight and starts wearing white sequined jump suits.

I've been wondering the same thing about my Grateful Dead shit. I say, sell it now while their fans still: are alive/have money/remember to give a fuck.

Cheers,
Michael

Not to take away from the loss of the Big Man, this might be an especially good time to sell them. Springsteen and the Band are on a lot of people's minds right now.

Sell while you have time to to be choosey about offers under what you want.

I like all these answers...

Well, we have a house load of relatives coming in this weekend so I'm going to get one of them to take a picture of them and send them thru the innernet to the interested party...

He sells poster but says he is a huge Bruce fan and wants these for his "private collection"... BTW, I did talk with him for about 30 minutes... He had lots of questions about Richmond in the 60s and Bruce's bands "Child" and "Steel Mill" and the concerts... I'm surprised that being in the business that he only has photographs of these posters... They must be really rare...

Well, gn-ze... I lost contact with Bruce a long, long time ago (1970 to be exact) but I'm purdy sure he has at least the famous Sept 19-20 poster since it's in some of the Springsteen books...

About 15 years ago he was doing a solo acoustic tour after releasing the Tom Jode (sp?) CD and my late wife, Judy, camped out and got tickets... She also worked at Xerox and made almost life size copies of the three posters and I gave them to a security guy and asked him to get them to Bruce... I enclosed a note reminding him of who I was... Hey, famous people meet so many people that it's hard sometimes to keep everything straight... Anyway, I doubt if the copies made it to him because I put my phone number in the note and Bruce is the kinda guy who woulda called and said, "Hey, thanks"

BTW, I have about 20 copies of the posters left and would be more than happy to share them if anyone wants 'um... I'd like to keep at least 5 for me but the others, when I find them from the move, are available...

What? Share them? Noooooo. Keep them and sell them one at a time. Might get ya a few pennies.

I'd suggest that, after hearing him croon "We shall overcome, you might just burn them

Do I need this anymore?

Is it time to divest myself of some things? I maintain the memories.

Will it be worth the "loss" to share with someone else AND have some much needed cash?

Will it actually feel like a loss? or a moving on to a new level?

Yup, a nice little 12 foot John boat with a 6 hp trolling motor would definitely take whatever sting there would be from giving these posters up... For a decent price, that is... Heck if they're worth 5 grand then that's a John boat and a nice vacation, something that the P-Vine have never actually taken...

Well, the offer is now at $2000 for the pair and given the expenses that we've incurred in the move and the fact that I'd like a John boat and trailer, I'm leaning hard toward selling 'um... Especvially since the guy wants them 'cause he's a Bruce fan and not looking to resell them...
