Meanwhile, the FLK record which I got sent seems to be a sample-for-sample rerecording of the KLF's Chill Out album - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chill_Out - only with folk music making up all the samples. I wouldn't at all be surprised if a dead sheep turns up on the steps outside the BBC Folk Awards this year (read up on the KLF to get the significance of that). |

Intriguing, I'll have look that up. There's a great deal of scope for folk/electronic cross-over, which has yet to be explored. Destroying "Below the Salt" by Steeleye Span? "Cruel Sister" by Pentangle? There are so many more (deserving) LPs out there one might wish to destroy. But why bother? Don't like them? Don't buy them. Think they're over-rated? So what? So much easier to support what you like. As for myself, I have a personal relationship with "Liege and Lief." First heard it on a transistor radio in my room at bedtime (or past) in the late sixties. Realized that someone had done something unique with the old ballads my mother and grandmother sang to me when I was quite young. Turned them into something new for my generation. Inspired me to turn my interests into a second career of sorts (playing and singing old ballads for $$ and appreciation). Long live Liege and Lief. IMHO. |

Interesting piece of what looks like media student stuff, but the scenery includes a broken solar sphere....very expensive to buy, and comparatively recent "technology". Also, where did they get all those new-looking vinyl copies of Leige and Lief? they landed on the fire with some weight behind them.....not just photocopies then?
