Could you recommend a good CD?

I'm going to buy a gift to a person who loves happy folk (but can't stand sad or slow songs) and sometimes folk-rock (such stuff as The Heart of a song, by Fairport Convention, a song I know he likes).

I would like to buy one with many tracks on. Any ideas?

Thanks

Unless you're after songs, I can recommend a Flook album. Most are all upbeat and make you want to dance.

But Flook don't do songs? just instrumentals I think.

A folk cd with nothing but happy songs mmmmmmmmmmm that would be a first! Not a bad idea for a compilation though it would take a lot of researching and would exclude most of the irish and scottish stuff, welsh I can't comment on as Dowy sings in welsh and explained one of his song titles as "My dog is waiting at the pub door for me to go home but I am not leaving til I am drunk" The Welch language must cram in a lot of words into one, my kind of language, short ballads!(I wonder if he was a happy drunk, would it qualify?)

Try "Highway 61 Revisited" by Bob Dylan.

What country are you in? Some CDs might be difficult to obtain, or at least add postage.

Indeed they do, but OP just said folk. Be helpful if you could clarify OP whether you want instrumentals or songs as well?

Now if any wants to buy ME a CD I DO like long and rather gloomy ballads...I don't feel as though as have had good evening at Folk Club unless I've heard one or two of these. Too many funny or happy songs tend to depress me. Weird, isn't it?
